you could have gotten 2 600 watters with hortilux bulbs. The plants look healthy though. Don't put the lights against the walls though, I would put them like this:

I you want 4 ounces per plant the canopy is gonna have to be around 3x3 per plant, maybe a bit less. It is doable, but you might need more then 2 more weeks veg time and need to be topped them a couple more times. It is possible to get some 1/2 ounce colas as well.

Wow long question,thats ok i prefer as much info as possible,its hard to answer one liners wth proper answers.

First off let me say that i grow using the double spectrum MH/HPS as you are suggesting,i had a dedicated mother clone room running off floro tubes,a veg room running of all MH lighting & a bud room running off all HPS,i decided to scale way back & stay within the med mj law in my state which is where i grow now,within the law.

Anyways after shutting down some rooms i consolodated my bud room & decided to use some MH lighting in combination with hps,ive noticed no difference in quality of yeild since adding MH to the spectrum,infact i know use a little less wattage using the dual spectrum lighting over all hps in that room since the mh's were smaller wattage thanthe hps they replaced.

You'll be fine with dual spectrum & the plants will dfinish in the same amount of time.

With all that being said im sure you know getting 4 ounces per plant is a heavy yeild for indoor plants,that will require two months veg time for sure,maybe even 10 weeks veg time,the goal can be reached though but with you running all 400 watters i think your reaching a bit too high.

From experience in my grows the smaller 400 watt lights give less yeild per plant over 600's & 1,000's.

would you have the plants like this

------------------------------
-----------------------------
------++-------------++------
----------*--------*---------
-------------*--*------------
----------*--------*---------
------++-------------++------
------------------------------

also would you hang them straight across like shown in the picture or angled in so if you drew a line from oposite corner to oposite corner ( drawning an X in the square) and line the lights up along those lines

Yeah my goals are lofty =) but I have Vegged them for a while now and am Definitly willing to wait another month if need be. Also the more i read into it i probley would of been better off with the 600's but at the same time I got 2 400 watts for 200 shipped to me ( 100 each ) so i can't complain to much

why do pot heads always try and make things more difficult than they are ? youve got a nice setup going and your plants are looking good...but i really think your over thinking this whole light placement thing though...i would hang the lights how you have in the above diagram...but your plant placement is a huge waste of space and lighting....why put all that light under there if you are going to place your plants outside of the more intense light?

with the lights running up and down the refletor will put out enough light to give the middle row of plants the same light intensity as the rows closer to the lights themselves......

I don't really know what your asking in the second question.
Just spread the plants out in the room, just don't put the lights against the wall.

i will try to explain

with the light set up like this ( in this location in the tent )

-----------------------------
-----------------------------
------++------------++------
-----------------------------
-----------------------------
------++------------++------
-----------------------------
-----------------------------

and the plants and lights set up like this

------------------------------
-----------------------------
------++-------------++------
----------*--------*---------
-------------*--*------------
----------*--------*---------
------++-------------++------
------------------------------
------------------------------

I was wondering if you would have the lights set on on these lines

-----------------------------
-----------------------------
+++++++++++++++++++++++
-----------------------------
-----------------------------
+++++++++++++++++++++++
-----------------------------
-----------------------------

or position them along these lines

+--------------------+
---+--------------+---
-------+------+------
----------++---------
---------+--+---------
-------+------+------
---+--------------+---
+--------------------+

like I've said, spread the plants out evenly in the room, just don't put the lights against the wall. the plants don't have to be inside the 4 lights.
You're overthinking it...
