You're not even in the range of good deals with the first two links. 6 68w cfl's for $150 oh my god.

Can you not use a hps, the $20 hps that almost puts out more lumens than all 6 of those cfl's combined?

I got my clamp on fixture at walmart for around 15 bucks........I havent looked for any sites that sell them... but there is a way to plug the lightbulb into a power strip using a special adapter that only cost 3 dollars

i have a hps ?..can u send me a link to the hps type of set up ur talking about...using hps set ups seems overwhelming..i see 68 watt cfl and a clamp light fixture..i say easy..but i know hps has more lumen being delivered in any given space....but i hear talk about ballast, wiring amongst other things...and it becomes overwhelming.....

is there any easy way to have a hps set up???

You have to go to vapor tights from that link, then look for the $20 one. (make sure you're on the $20 hps and not the other junk like regular incandescent or whatever)

All you have to do is put a cord on it, you don't have to wire it from scratch. If you can replace a power cord on anything else in your house, like if the dog ate it, then you can do this.
3 wire nuts, connect black to black, white to white, ground to ground.

Done.

This is the one that I would like to buy

http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=47981

It is a 400watt HPS/MH dual lamp... you do not need to buy two seperate ballast because this one ballast will power both a hps bulb and mh bulb

This kit includes everything you need for your lighting... except maybe an extension cord or timer...

If you want the WHOLE SYSTEM.. EVERYTHING TO GROW.. SOIL, NUTES, LIGHTS, ETC.. then check this out

http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=52167

its also something im considering... but untill i can afford all of this i think that i am going to just stick it out with 75$ worth of CFL's

im trying to figure out something..i know with cfl's...theres 2700k to 6500k...does the same rules apply to hps lights.....if so...does anyone know of cheap hps bulbs so i can change them for vegging and flowering....

The 5600 for veg & 2700 for flowering rule applies no mattter what light you use. If you get a ballast then it must be a dual ballast so that it can accept both a mh and hps bulb... I think bulbs usually run around 20$ a pop

EDIT: if you do not get a "DUAL" ballast then you must buy a ballast for the mh bulb and a seperate ballast for the HPS bulb... if you gotta small grow setup then I would pay the extra bucks for a dual ballast

do i need the dual ballast....cant i use just the hps setup and change the lights for vegging and flowering because doesnt mh have less lumen..if thebulbs are 20 a pop..i can have a hps bulb for each stage

A HPS ballast only works with a HPS bulb.. a MH ballast only works with a MH bulb... or you can get a dual ballast that will work with HPS or MH bulbs... theoritically speaking I do not know why they dont work with each other.. its just what i read in the forums
