i have mold at the base of my clones...

I took 19 clones the other day of a couple of beauties i got from a buddy called Ice. I took them all about 4-5 inches tall and used olivia's gel into rockwool. I put them into my black propagation tray with a tall dome on it. I have a second larger reservoir tray underneath of it and the top tray has holes. I had a great idea to keep humidity up was to use a heating pad on low underneath the two. It is working great humidity wise but 5 days in and i started seeing mold. The gel is actually molding down in the hole of the cube. Not all of them but a bunch have it. I pulled one out cause it looked like it was wilting and NO roots and the stalk was rotting but they look really healthy and i swear i have seen growth. I did not clean my gear with bleach so shame on me. I brought the mold in. Also I have not PHed the water here. I turned off the heating mat thinking it is too hot, it was on low. I swear i can never clone. in the many years i have attempted i usually get a 25% return. What do you think the main problem is? It is proly a mixture. I have sent pics also.

It looks like you don't have any ventilation in there. Your soil is too wet and you don't have any air moving in there. Perfect condition if your trying to grow mold. Give those girls plenty of fresh air and don't water them until that soil dries up and your plant actually is thirsty. That should make it hard for the mold to survive. Marijuana like a dry atmosphere. On a molecular scale it is easier for them to grow when there is less water in the air.

well the thing is that they are clones with no roots yet and clones need much moisture in the air to survive. they take in water and nutrients through the leaves, ie. a foliar spray, until the roots develop and can take moisture and nutrients through osmosis. now i know it is really wet in there are you trying to say don't use the dome and let the rockwool cubes these clones are in dry up?

I disagree my friend. I never foliar spray or humidify my clones. i use aeroponics via an EZ cloner. Only the bottom couple in. are actually in the system the rest if the plant is in the fresh air. Plants have the ability to absorb moisture through there leaves but that is where the plant actually expels its water from. Because in the process of transpiration (How plants grow) water is evaporated through the cell walls of the leaf. Your plant draws water through its stem, transports it to your leaf. There something amazing happens. Your plant actually splits the water molecule via a red & or blue photon from your light source. It then uses the carbon from CO2 & hydrogen from the water to create carbohydrates(energy). So the more water in the air, the more resistance the air has against you plant growth. That's why I keep my room as dry as possible. But clones are fragile in nature so i wouldn't suggest placing a fan right on them just provide a little more air and less water and I'm sure yor plants will show new life quickly. Transpiration is very slow right now and that is why you want some humidity but not too much as to stifle your plants growth.

I have the same problem it was powder mildew on the bottom of the clone material from the moisture. I just remove everything from the chamber ( Except the plants) and scrub it with hot water and spritz the enclosure in organic insect soap made from potassium salts. Has worked thus far. Your best bet would have been to physically scrape the mildew off and either use milk or potassium soap(Safe for plants)

Have you sprayed your plants recently with a pesticide? if so chances are it has soaked into your cannabis plant and your cuttings will usually mould and die, although the plant will handle it, it will try flushing it out slowly, stop spraying if you are continuing to, and water with distilled water for 3-4 weeks before you re-take cuttings. Also cuttings need moisture but once theyre in the dome they also need ventilation, ideal temperatures are 23.5 celcius, I don't spray at all as moisture usually stays around 85-95 with one vent open on top of the dome, hope Ive helped.

some sick looking plants ! stick those in soil , for get the hydro during the summer unless your a big baller running that ac 65f , plants wont be happy, no matter what you feed or do if they are to hot hydro . flood table so on , in soil I see rooms 95 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! f and the soil is 85, so they survive and still look health .

I am having the same issue. My stems in hydroponic cloner are literally turning to mush about a week to 10 days in... My clones in rapid rooters fold over at about the same point... mold. I have used 27% H20 in the water of the hydro cloner... all when I add any water to the ones in rapid rooters. It's been a horrible summer in ONTARIO this year.. a ton of rain...I also need some answers.. Dehu in the room etc. Fans. Etc.

No thats incorrect , cuttings draw water up thru the stem cut and dont use nutes until they have a bunch of roots under there.
The reason you have mold is not from poor sterilization its from the humidity being too high in the dome, try to avoid domes and the medium has to half dry between waterings as well so dont submerge them in water. The ones with furry mold are fucked.
I hope you can get another batch from 'ICE' .

H202 will help with rot and pathogen control but not mold.
Same problem too wet. Also the warmer ambient summer temps make the mold much worse and spread faster.

Ok I get that. I have the dehumidifier on the room. But if you're trying clone in water then what? The stems become like over cooked asparagus! This has been going on for months now. I get the little bit of what looks like green/blue mould. Doesn't seem to matter what I try. Maybe I will bring the clones upstairs

Looks like you have hard water and that is the dried minerals left over.
