Not that i don't like the low prices but its actually a bad thing for the economy. it means mines arn't expanding and oil companies arn't drilling for new wells. the number of jobs reduced is huge. no work for the drill rigs or their crews, no income from the new machinery used to make the mines, oil rigs, and all the construction equipment used to do all of this. I know this because i work for caterpillar and they are laying off people like crazy at the production plants, no one is buying new machinery. the reason the prices are dropping are because the demand has plumeted.

Yes, well that is indeed true and unfortunate. The price is reflective of the demand (at least when the govt. stays out of the free markets), and it may be awhile till it goes back up. We will have to suffer at the hands of Fed. intervention until the people wake up to the nightmare which is our Govt. and insist on "Progressive Social programs powered by an free market engine". The Govt. needs to step aside and let capitalism do the heavy lifting. it's the only way for the quickest remedy for what ails us..... intrusive politicians playing at economics..... it's not working......surprised? out.

The first thing they need to do is stop bailing these companies out. Let them sink or swim on their own. If they don't have to get out of this on their own, they'll never figure out how they got there and within the next 4 years they'll be back in washington asking for more.
It really makes me want to puke. If I overspend, I have to cut corners somewhere else to make ends meet. These corporations have never learned that concept.

You are right Miss....yes indeed. Unfortunately Congress has figured out that this bailout is the best thing since sliced bread. I'm afraid unless Obama steps in as a "LEADER" and points out that this is the antithesis to his entire campaign (I'll won't hold my breath), it will continue unabated and actually, increase until the taxpayers say Uncle. I can see the Lib's being spurned in the next four years if they keep this tactic. It's a long term loser for them ... and most certainly for us. out.

Living in the Peoples Republic of Kommiefornia, our regular gasoline is averaging $1.80 per gallon. That's because our state legislators are mostly Democrats, and as we all know, Democrats are in bed with the Marxist Environmental Movement. We have "special blends" of gasoline to "help the environment." Therefore, we pay through the nose for gas.

Oh yeah ... have you guys heard about this one: The Governor of Oregon wants the state to use satellite technology to track each automobile's miles driven, then tax not at the pump, but based upon miles driven. Seems they are loosing to much tax revenue because people are driving much more fuel efficient cars these days.

No, wise guy ... Today's automobiles are really clean. They run just fine every time I drive to Las Vegas ... which is in Nevada in case you don't know. When I drive out of state and buy gas there, there isn't smoke suddenly belching out of my tailpipes.
But to answer your question: I'd rather have more economic freedom than pander to a bunch of Marxists.

Well you see the problem with that thought is that Oxygen is more dangerous than Carbon Dioxide. Free Oxygen Radicals promote cancer and aging, and thus that life giving gas that we all need is really in all matter of fact toxic.
Of course, the real solution would be to plant more trees and get rid of excess carbon dioxide that way. Or for California to lay off its zoning restriction which have shoved people into apartment complexes like sardines and caused the price of housing to shoot up like a rocket.
And all those taxes... well if the taxes were so good, then why is California $26 (or was it $2
Billion dollars in the whole.Oh, wait, all the businesses are leaving, because they can't afford to do business in California.
Which is pretty much the same reason why they are leaving Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. High Taxes, and the Economy of those states is collapsing.

Yeah, that's usually what happens during an recession. Of course, all that retrenchment is ultimately good for the economy. The end result is more efficient companies that employee less people. Of course, it means that those people that are laid off need to do something else to make a living, but if I was getting $100,000+ severance packages I wouldn't be bitching too much. I'd be going back to school to earn a degree in something useful that isn't under attack by retarded politicians (something outside of manufacturing.)
