My AeroGarden smells moldy.

My AG smells moldy. Anybody have any ideas why it might be getting a moldy odor? I've done a grow in it before and never had a problem with the mold smell.

Am I getting a problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It should smell fresh. Maybe root rot. Your roots should be white and not browning. Root rot is pretty common in a 1 gal tank. I'd flush it, clean it and refill it with fresh a fresh nute solution.

Might want to add a teaspoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution to the reservoir, that'll kill a lot of the fungus or bacteria causing the smell. Also, make sure the water isn't getting too warm.

Can I do that with plants still in it?

If your plants are still in there be careful with peroxide. You Can Not use peroxide with ANY organic nutrients.

Very true. I tried it and almost killed my grow. It's best to drain your tank and put in new nutes. Also, you can add CLEAREX, which I did, to flush everything out. Add 1 oz/gal and let it cycle thru your system for 30 min, drain it and start over with your nute mixture.

Something else to consider is that there is a sponge/filter inside the pump chamber - easily accessible. Remove it and run it under hot water and squeeze - repeat process 2-3 times and then put it back in. It can retain odors too.
