a little update but no pics....all the plants were showing some purple in the fan leaf stems and purple lines in two of the plants branches...i think thats an N deficiency;hopfully ill b ok...they got some nutes today and ill give them another dose in 4 days on the next watering, unless my hermie experiment shows me they need to b watered more often...i watered the hermie till i saw water draining out so ill see tommorrow when i remove it from the pot as to what kind of moisture retention i have....i think this is where a moisture meter would come in handy...lol...anyway, kindof a slow day in growth but i think thats from the defcy....

The purple stems is not a N def.The signs of N def, will be your fan leaves yellowing. My plants all have the purple stems also and they do just fine with them, and dont have a clue as what it might be except the cool nights mine are going through the low 60s.I have tried to find out about the purple stems with no one knowing for sure and several different answers and cold nights is what most ppl have comeup with,Whatever it is everybody that has them never have said ther plants were doing BAD!Now the watering are you doing the weight thing like we talked about?I go by how heavy mine feel after time you should be able to tell just bye how heavy the container is whether they need a drink. If you stick index finger down in container and thers no sign of moisture, water them!try to get it where you can go by the weight of the container. Are they droopy everymorning? If its dry 3inches down they need a drink for sure!

that makes me feel better about the purple stems...sometimes they are drooopy in te morn and somtimes not...i do think i have been underwatering...yesterday i watered one of the hermies and pulled it out of the pot today and the soil was not dry but drier than it shoulda been...i think my soil doesnt have alot of moisture retention....i do go by the weight method but to be honest after i water there isnt to much of a noticable difference...every time i water i strt at the outside and work in....i have been thinking though, if the other hermy i watered yesterday is real dry when i pull it outta the pot tommorrow, would u recommend me doing a drip system?.ill test it today

No on the drip.I think your watering to little, cause if you water1/2 gallon per plant you should be able to feel the difference in weight.I only use little 10inch pots and water a little less than 1/2 gallon, and i just try to pick it up and can tell right away if they need water. They can feel like nothing and for some reason my plants have never gotten droopy. When you let it dryout to a degree you allow more oxygen to the roots.

Yeah,

Thats why I let my soil dry out to a degree, to get more oxygen to the roots, and also prevents overwatering. Very well said somebeech

well, every day makes me more amazed with my 2 bushy plants i wanted to get rid of...every branch has budsites strting about 1 in apart...the tops are looking really good...tying them down really gave me 9 tops that are going to be nice big colas....the 3 matas are progressing nicely also...i cant wait to see them 2 wks from now, i had changed my mind about topping, but after seeing the two i didnt like, im kinda in the middle now...i will definitly apply super cropping and training to my next harvest...i've learned so much from this grow...indoor growing is so very different form outdoor...im really glad i tried this because my outdoor grows will really benefit from what ive learned...and ill have gr8 clones for my hydro grow from my outside stuff....i should b able to get a few really good strains that i can continue year round....i'll post some good pics in a few days...i'm gonna go buy a nice digi cam....

wow! todays update...last night i gave the 2 bushy ones a dose of nutes to 1/2 gal water each...when the lights came on this mrning, holy moly! they exploded with growth ...those 2 have 1 inch hairs and are as thick as the lead in a pencil! the matas are growing flowers pretty rapidly also but not 1 inchers...looking at pics of other grows, id say my flowers look like they are about 15 days ahead...they look like they are on day 25 to 30! i have never seen such large hairs on such small plants...the hairs look outta place on them...like the plants should be about 8 ft tall!...the branches are purple and look really kool...and the runoff ph and readings are perfect!...temps for daytime strt at 72 and by the end of the day rise to 80.1...nighttime never goes below 71...the smell, oh the smell...i turned off odor control for the night to get a wiff this morning...so strong! so sweet! things are going well....

Just shows you have good genetics, and you are growing the strain to its full potential. Some people are not growing to the strains full potential.

That sounds great though. Seems like they are doing nice. can't wait for some pics. Makes me excited for when I wake up and see the first hairs of my plants. Cant wait!
