Hows things going and growing,i might be forced to start balling, again.
What up Beech!!
Been a few days, huh? I heard you are also experiencing economic problems in our great country. Me too! I hope somebody fixes the mess we are in soon!!

My farm is doing great, wed. night will be the 5th flowering week updates. Went last night and cryptonite is getting lovely!:weed:

Beech, you think with my grow it would be ok to go to a grow medium mix of 50/50 perilite and vermiculite? I have been reading about this, and hear it is a great medium to use. I will be using nothing but growbags after these ones in the buckets get chopped.
Did ya' read the news, got two free NL, and two free violator kush seeds the other day!!:hump:
Thanks beech!

If you do that you're essentially doing passive hydro, and you will need better nutes that are standalone sufficient in all micronutes etc.. I used to keep mothers in that with a coiled rope in the medium dangling into a resevoir like wicks..

yup, i read about the wick systems too, but am growing in soil now. Can i not use this mix as soil mix, or do i need to add something to make this a more soil like mix?
I want a good soil mix that is light and airy, that allows for max drainage and aeriation.

Soil has most/all micros available within itself.. Soil-less mix will not.. I highly advise you not to rely on micros from general garden fertilizers.. Problems in that mix will happen fast too.. I used DNF hydroponic fertilzer with that mix.. It worked ok, and was pretty hassle free.. A friend tried one with cheapo fertilizer, and had pH stress and nute problems galore.. And aside from chincing out he gave it a pretty good effort.. After about a month he pulled the plug and cloned to good soil (and bought hydroponic nutes to use with that..) That worked very well..
My advice would be to play with soiless medium before dedicating to it diy style, or go all out and buy all the standard hydroponic supplies..

Yeah man, its good advice. There are many many nutes a plant needs. And growing that way your going to have to give it to them. The page I am writing about my nutrients will give you a idea of all the different shit plants need. Your going to have to pay attention to the numbers, and make sure you get the best of the best. I am using soil and I still use alot of stuff. So if your growing that way, Your gonna have to have all the nutrients the plant needs. Including the micro nutes.

Take his advice. Play with it, see if you like it before deciding to go that way.

Read up on Hempy buckets if you haven't already.. Thats what most ppl call the soil-less passive system, and alot of ppl do like it alot..

And don't forget
you need to use RO
along with hydro nutes,
otherwise the calcium in tapwater
will lockout the micros anyway,
and your back to square one.

Very nice journal man.

I like the way you handled Nirvana.

I see you made a custom reflector also. Any way you can put glass lens on the bottom and air cool it for the summer?

Something to think about, you may need it.

Thanks man, well we settled it all in the long run. Just didn't like their reaction to what happened.

The reflector was easy, cheap and works great. I was thinking the same thing about the glass.
If i put the 2x4, or whatever i use in the future one for support, i could stay up about 1/4 to 1/2 inch higher than now.

Fold a lip with a bender, or break, and slide the tempered glass right in, from lowe's or wherever.
Also though about bending some sheet metal to close the ends off, and make it a cooled reflector hood!

I have to wait and see the temp difference in my room this summer. The room is underground in solid concrete, so i think it might stay kind of cool. I have to use a heater now to keep it warm enough, even with two 400 watters, and one 150 watter on for daytime!LOL!

Next up we got the PPP.....

Pics 1-3: LOL!!!! This is my retartd plant!!LOL!!! It was a little behind the other one, but i kept it in the veg cab. anyway, so it streched a bit, and morphed a bit!LOL!!!

Pics 4-8: The momma PPP, well soon to be, about 12" and will be topped like the WW, to keep for mom. I haven't taken any clones yet, but you can see there's plenty to pick from!!:leaf:

PROBLEM: The leaves are a little singed on the tips. Nute burn:?: Too much N:?: Should i flush it out good:?:

Looks like nute burn....just lay off the nutes a bit....I don't think flushing is necessary, but it also wouldn't hurt.

Also, 2 or so posts ago u have it titled (5 weeks flowering!).....do u mean veg? I don't see anything flowering in those pics.

Now......while the battery charges again, i'll put these on, what i got off before it died!!LOL!!!

Pics 1-5: These are a lil' bush i have in vegg. It's bagseed, but oh well.
Practicing with it for topping and shaping for the future mothers.

And some random shots of the flower room.......got these when one light went off, and the other in the hood was still on.

Whatchya think?????:weed:

Flushing occasionally isn't a bad idea for any plant in soil that is fed chemical nutes regardless of health..
Remember that when plants uptake nutrients they don't exactly suck the molecule up their stem, but rather react with the nutrient molecules to steal parts of it and leave others behind.. This can create a toxic salt buildup in the soil over time even if you haven't over-fed them..
