Not just cause he's black, he's also young, I equate young with someone who might relate to my age group better. I also agree with a lot of his positions. LOL...he openly admits that he did drugs he's for decriminalization of MJ,he's all for finding a fix for healthcare, we know how he feels about the war, I like most of his homeland security policy I defintiely don't see him being black as a disadvantage, I should have said that...lol. I also like Ron Paul quite a bit but I disagree with some of his positions...but he doesn't have a chance, I would love for him to be a viable canidate but I just don't see it happening.

How does if work in the U.S? I know alot of ppl here in Canada If they don't like the canidates, they vote for themselves or none of the above that way their vote still gets counted and shows that they are willing to participate just not for the garbage that gets nominated!

Seems to me like the U.S elections are set up to give the ppl the "impresion" that they have a choice. I would like to vote for the right person Not just the lesser of two evils. If I don't vote it looks like I don't care! Evil wins agian.

It's the lesser of 2 evils down here. And our voting system is obsolete IMO, with the electoral college and what not. Isn't weird how Canada and the US are neighbors and we don't even know that much about each other? I honestly don't remember learning anything about Canada in school. I guess all I really know about Canada is weed, beer, and hockey (2nd greatest sport in the world, our team sucked this year)...lol.

In alot of ways your right. But I think Canada teaches alot more about the U.S than the U.S does about Canada. We had to learn all of the states in middle school, damn that was hard. People on x-box live and chat rooms from america have actually asked me if I really drive a snowmobile everywhere, or if in canada we call our fathers DAD, and mothers MOM. How do you get internet in a igloo? seriously! I live only miles from N.D and even when I go down there I always have some interesting moments with some of them. It's like they see the border as tho it's 100's of miles wide or something and It's a completely different planet or something.

well really it's the lesser of two evils so long as the rest of your state agrees with your choice, otherwise you're just pissing in the wind.

For my canadian brothers and sisters out there who don't know or understand what the electoral college does or is here it goes. the electoral college was originally put into place to prevent ignorant farmers from making bad votes(by ignorant i mean lack of information not stupid). What that means today is every states have X amount of electoral college votes. That number is based on the population of the state. So states like california and taxas have more electoral college votes then say new jersey or vermont. All a candidate has to do is get the majority of votes of that state to get ALL of the electoral college votes. So if you're in a red state and you vote for any other candidate well it won't actually count. Which is why our voter turn out is so low. It also means that a candidate can win an election by getting the electoral college votes even if he loses the popular vote (example 2000 election gore v bush).

so actually if anyone calls the US a "democracy", well they're wrong. it's more of a republic at best and as you can clearly see we are not at our best. we're in pseudo stalinist state.

Thanks for that peice, I would asume there are many non U.S ppl as myself who did not know what that was all about. So who exactly sets who gets the electoral college votes? As in If a canidate does not win the popular vote who gives them the college votes?
