Idea for single cabinet perpetual harvet

I'm in the process of building a stealth cabinet currently and have done alot of researching around and at the moment am trying to decide on the design of the actual growing chamber, I want to do a SOG set up but also wanted to set up a perpetual harvest, ideally harvesting every 2 weeks.

Most of the set ups I have looked into for this have used seperate setups for each stage in the perpetual harvest but I had an idea for doing it all in a single chamber.

I'd love some input and your thoughts on the idea as to if you think it would work well or not, and if I'm overlooking anything (of course i am seeing as I came to this design while quite blazed)

There are 3 designs I had in mind all of which I made a quick crude drawing for you guys to get the idea.

Setup 1



4 Rows of 2 plants each under an angled 250 watt HPS



Setup 2



4 Rows of 2 plants each under a horizontal 250 watt HPS and a slanted 100-150 watt HPS (or possibly MH for spectrum variety)


Setup 3



4 Rows of 2 plants each under 2 slanted 100-150 watt HPS (or 1 HPS and 1 MH for spectrum variety)


Let me know if you think its a worthwhile idea for going forward with, as you can probably tell the idea is to plant sets of 2 clones spread 2 weeks apart constantly so your harvesting 2 plants every 2 weeks, and the lights are situated to give the best light to the plants in their different stages of growth

Yes I know, like I said at this point I'm just at a design phase. But once I actually build the finished product it will definitely be very well thought out and sturdy so it could bring me biweekly harvests for years to come :) Assuming theres no major design flaws with any of the set ups above, I'll choose the best and move forward with the full cabinet design which I'll post once its complete.

During the build process itself I will be working on mothers from 5 different strains ideal for 8 week flowering to keep things orderly. The final cabinet will have a chamber to hold the 5 mothers, a veg chamber for the newly planted clones and then the flowering chamber pictured in my 1st post. Ideally there will be 5 different sets of clones going at one time at 2 week intervals, providing not only a new harvest every 2 weeks but a different smoke as well (which is great as you can sometimes build up a tolerance to a strain if you smoke nothing but it for a while)

the only problem with this design that I can see is that how are you gonna continue the cycle with VEG if the timers are set for 12/12? also having 8 plants under one 250w hps is questionable, I'm growing with a 250w hps right now so if it is possible to fit that many plants with a 250w then that is good news!

Well like I said'earlier, the final growing cabinet would have a seperate, lightsealed chamber for veg-ing the clones. So basically a week before your ready to harvest your farthest along crop, you throw your next set of clones in the veg-ing chamber. That way once you do harvest, you can move all of your other plants down the line, and start the clones flowering after a week in veg, and for strains that need a bit longer or shorter veg, just start it longer or shorter before you harvest.

I do agree about the lights though, I think while conceptualizing i got a little ambitious. I'm still looking for input as to which of the 3 set-ups looks most promising, although for Setup 1 I would probably use a 400 watt HPS, Setup 2 I think would be fine the way it is currently for light, Setup 3 maybe would be done with 2x 200-250 watt HPS or HPS/MH but from the lights ive seen this could be quite crowded.

(although another advantage of this method would be that although you are growing 8 plants in 1 chamber, at no time do you ever have more then 2 fullsized plants in the grow space, so I may be wrong about this but it would stand to reason that you could use less light then you would need to grow 8 fullsize plants at once from clone to harvest.)

The next obstacle for this cabinet build is the medium, I'm heavily leaning towards a dwc hydro system, and for this too I have a couple of questions.

Will having different stages of plants growing in the same Nute Soup be okay? They will all be flowering, but are there different Nute setups for different stages of flowering? If so I've been designing some interesting subcompartments that you could slide from side to side and remove from the normal dwc tank setup. I know I will be using 1 of these at least for flushing before harvest, and if there are no problems with sharing the soup I will probably build some netted versions that could easily slide down the line without worrying about transplanting.

If that last part was confusing at all I will try to get some more crudely drawn pictures to explain better.

Here are some more crudely drawn pictures to better describe and explain what I meant above in my last post.

Sorry if the drawings are bad, there main purpose is too get the idea across as easy as possible too get your opinions on it, once a design is decided upon I'll take some pictures of the build and make a list of mats dimensions etc.

Setup 1:

Setup 1 is setup assuming that you need different nute mixes for different stages of flowering, I don't know if this is the case or not.

In setup 1 the main nute bath holds no liquid at all and is more of a container for 3 smaller nute baths all with their own bubble wands and the 4th being a flushing bath for preharvest. They would all be easily removable seperately in nets and after a harvest the other 3 plants can simply slide over to there new spot making room for the new set of clones.





Setup 2:

Setup 2 is setup assuming that you can feed the flowering plants at all stages with the same nute soup, as stated previously I don't know if this is the case or not.

In setup 2 there is 1 large main nute bath, and 1 compartment on the side for flushing pre-harvest. This setup would use similar compartments to setup 1 only with netting instead of being enclosed. This allows the ease of use in rotating the plants as mentioned earlier, along with keeping the roots under control and not tangling.

I'm really enjoying the ambitiousness of this thread!:clap:

But on a more serious note, you should be able to get away with just one or 2 compartments. 1 def. for flushing and you might need another for the baskets just b4 the flush, because obviously, the bigger the plant the more nutrients its fat ass is gonna suck up. as far as light if you haven't bought one yet I would say just go 600w hps, and you could grow out 8-10 beautiful ladies at a time DWC, no problems at all.
