1 gal pot = how much watering?

So if i want to keep plants in a 1 gal pot for flowering insted of transplanting,

about how tall should they be when I switch them to 12/12?
about how often do i water them?
about how often do i use nutes? once a week? 2 times?

any help would be good. No co2. 400W hps, fox farm nutes, about 4ft of hight to work with. but would like to harvest sometime before october. They are about 7-8 inches now. oh and would "like" to get around 3 oz per plant if possible. 2 at least? Im growing 4 northern lights and 4 bc mango. any thoughts?

yea, i think 235 is roughly a cup or something. i have 2gal setup using the same nutes and i use a cup every other day, but i nute every time i water.

I don't see what could hurt in giving nutes every time you water. Just keep the nutes really light. I dont' like dirt for this reason though. At least with hydro if I mess up I can change it no problem.

a rule of thumb with dirt. water when the soil is thirsty, but not parched.

if you're using a one gallon container, then water with at least a half gallon of water. this is a pretty good generalization, as you want to saturate the soil when you water.

ok.. because right now I am feeding with about 1/2 liter of water for each plant. feed every other time. but consensus that i can flower when they are a foot tall and leave them in 1 gals until harvest?

your roots might get trapped in the bottom of a 1gal. i've usually read on here that u want 1gal/1ft of plant. so if she's gonna grow to bout two feet, u might consider a transplant to a two gal bucket or pot a week or so before flowering.

If I wanted to attain the goals you set forward with a harvest in October of 3 oz's per plant. I would only plan on maybe 4 decent sized plants. Run them in 4 rectangular (maybe cat littler type) buckets to maximize the amount of light the plants receive. Since you want to harvest in Octoboer a little clone sex check is probably out of the question (i'd prefer to do that). I'd probably even do some"L!"ST in case my male to female ratio is all kinds of wacked out and I don't get my 4 females. At least then I could grow them to fill some sort of canopy. Give them 14 more days then blast'em and get rid of the males. It is what it is when it's 8 plants, if you waited a little longer you could keep a strain and mother and be straight for a while. IDK, wait for some good advice. (i emphasize the L in low stress training)

where are you getting these yeild figures?? 4' to work with, 2 gallon pot=-12", one 400 watt light+10" space to canopy=-18" =18" height for the plants. 3 oz per plant??? VV

I wouldn't expect 3 oz's. You can try though (set the bar high), extremely high in this case. We all wanted lb's when we first started and didn't want to hear otherwise. Trial and error, soon he will learn 2.

Go away and read the GrowFAQ, all the answers to your questions are contained in that. I've noticed you mention earlier you couldn't find the information you were looking for - look harder.

You need *some* knowledge to grow these plants at the moment you're completely clueless. 3oz's per plant? You're having a laugh mate, in your setup with your skill level you'll be lucky to get anything at all unless you go away and gain at least 'some' knowledge.

How tall should they be? Why don't you work it out yourself? How talls your pot? 12 inches? you need to keep your 400w HPS (way too powerful for the area you're using) at least 18 inches from the plant tops. That's 2 and a half foot already which leaves you with 18 inches maximum for your plant height. Plants, depending on strain can double to quadruple in height in flowering. So, 18 inches max height? You'll have to flower at 9 inches tall won't you?

Unless you've got adequate ventilation and understand how to water your plants correctly - the heat from the HPS will probably kill them.

Im curious what a reasonable yield expectation is when its your 1st grow.

Variables are endless....but there has to be a ballpark figure to shoot for without it being a pipe dream.

Proper venting....decent nutes... agreeable temps/humidity and good lighting (400W HPS). You have to get something outta that. Maybe not 4oz. per plant....but something worth the time, effort and expense.

As you've already identified - there's a huge number of variables involved and in my opinion the skill, knowledge and ability of the grower is the most important.

New growers think that by plonking a big HPS over their plants will automatically bring them big yields - wrong, think again.

Ok I'm on my first grow also difference with me is that I'm outside and I have 23 of em.It's all bag seed-various strains of some really potent stuff.They range in height from 16inches to 2 feet.I'm using plain soil with no perlite or time release or anything.I use MG all purpose and Epsom Salt every 2 or 3 days.Sometimes less depending how much rain we get.I plan on forcing them to flower starting august 14th.So I figure they'll be in full bloom by september.I haven't set my sights on yeld but I was hoping for a pound.Also I was wondering if I need to change my nutes or anything once I'm in flowering.And would anybody have an idea what my yeld might be or could be.
