I am watching it also.I do not think anything that cannot be proven with fact, should be taught in school. That means no creationism or evolution.OPH

I agree with you 100%. It would be a reasonable compromise to make for both sides. But, unfortunately, I just don't believe it will happen. Compromise doesn't seem to be very viable option in the U.S. I just hope I'm wrong.

There are many things that can't be "proven" as a fact, but have a overwhelming preponderance of evidence supporting their validity. Evolution is one of those things. We have a well established fossil record that shows the transition of species over time. We have absolutely no evidence whatsoever that shows that there was any original creator or intelligent designer.

Intelligent design is simply a trojan horse for religion being taught in schools. Religion is a steaming pile of horse poo.

But this is something you can't come together and comprise about I mean it's not a piece treaty it's whether or not an assertion is true or not. Granted both sides are going about it all wrong but still.

I'm not sure if this was the same program I saw, with Christopher Hitchens, but if it was, In my estimation, the religious guy tore him a new ass. Like, beauty, how could that evolve?. What about The human soul, If you believe there is one, if not then I feel sorry for you and your coming nothingness. To look at this world and all the mayhem going on, cannot one see that this is only a temporary stopping off place for the soul. I can't believe that you only get one shot at life then you're born into a ghetto in Bangla Desh and starve to death before you reach three years of age. I did watch the other one also and if one was on the fence, the preponderance of evidence would have put one on the side of Darwin. The thing lacking in that arguement was the element of faith. Without blind faith, one cannot percieve of other existences after life on this plane has ended. For all of you that are thinking like that, I'm sorry. I don't attend church and I believe for the most part, religion is the root of all evil, but there are exceptions. Some of the more progressive christian churches teach one how to live and be happy in this world while maintaining a relationship with Jesus. I can't bring myself around to attend, although I realize my beliefs are basically in line with theirs.

Beauty is pretty subjective don’t you think? What it has to do with the debate I have no idea. Sounds nice but really doesn’t have to much to do with the theory of evolution and the discussion at hand.

I think that’s a natural response to death.

“Religion is the sigh of
the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of
soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.”-Karl Marx.

It’s a coping mechanism to deal with the harsh reality of things.

Overwhelming evidence?,where did you see that. They showed one flat head fish with bones that were similar to that of a man's arm.How do they know these are not a distinct species. They did not show any animal that was in the process of evolution. No one over the last 2000 years of recorded history has ever written about finding any animal in the middle of evolving. They have NO fossile history to back up their claims.
Evolution according to them is still ongoing, why do we not find half ape and half man walking out of the forest. If evolution is still going on why can we not see it all around us.They said that there theory is full of holes, yet theory's hold more water than facts, only in the minds of the people trying to get you to believe their crap.OPH

Well, then I guess you must have a lot more stress than I. It is a comforting "fact" to me to know that this life is not all there is. If you believe you're going for the dirt nap and fade to black, then Kudos, the next place I go there wont be People like you to bring me down from my natural high. Being called a nutcase or stupid does not enter into my equation of my personal beliefs. "We are endowed by our creator", Hmmm, I wonder where that came from. Belief in nothing is fatal, Take your "soul" out for a walk. I've been to places in my mind where there is absolute certainity that Jesus exists and the entire story is true. For you that don't believe, I'll say a prayer to my creator for you. Hell, you never know, your soul may wake up before the dirt nap, Amen brother.

Bunghole ...

There is NO overwhelming fossil evidence. If you have the evidence, show it.

To others ...

Is this the Ben Stein movie? If so, Ben Stein makes the Evolutionists look like a bunch of freaking, brain washed fools.

Good movie, by the way.

Kudos for that post, Med. ;-)

They have NO fossile history to back up their claims.

There is huge amounts of fossil evidence to support the theory of evolution I mean there is enough fossil evidence to trace our own species evolution from Lucy to modern man and just about every step in between. We can trace how the eye might have evolved and can see each stage of said evolution in various other species. The process of evolution takes hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years and is a very gradual process based on breeding so saying where are the half apes, where is X or Y is sort of silly.

Perhaps even we are evolving or there are species who are evolving on such subtle level that modern equipment and study methods haven't picked up on it, idk, I'm not expert but again I think the argument "why isn't it still happening," is a silly question when you really think about it. No offense. Theories are only called theories because they have empirical evidence i.e. facts to support them otherwise they are just assertions (like ID for example).

Well, we've had this debate several times in this forum. To date, not one poster has shown proof of any fossil evidence. If you have it, show it.

Nope I look to the Buddha and I think everyone should give him a good look because as he and others that have come after him have taught life is impermanent and once we accept that impermanence and realize that attachment causes suffering then everything becomes a bit more clear. At least to me anyways. It is the attachment to the body, to the ego, to the indulgences of the world, etc. that causes suffering and I think if you work to get past that attachment you will achieve a greater level of happiness and be content with reality.

Well, I'll jump in here in defense of Med. <Did I really say that? >

Volcanus ... what you have described, highlighted in red, is what Christians define as "Being one with The Spirit." Some call it "Being Born Again."

There is more than one way to attain that higher plane of enlightenment.

OK, I went through all of these sites that you posted, Stoney. None deal with Man's evolvement from lower life forms. One touches on the similarities of apes and Man, as do a lot of evolutionists, but the question that is never answered is, if Man evolved from the apes ... why do we still have apes?

And by the way, the controversy really is, did Man evolve from a lower life form, or was Man created by a Supreme Being, right? So, with that in mind, and assuming that the Evolutionist are correct, from where did the lowest life form originate?

Watch Ben Stein's movie.
