i recently purchased a ballast for my mh bulb and was sorta bummed at how expensive everything was. i was wondering where can i find the cheapest ballasts for hps. getting ready to flower soon.

im actually looking to keep the ballast for veg (its switchable between mh and hps) and have a separate ballast and bulb for flowering (hps). so i would have to purchase another ballast and hps bulb.

Give HTG Supply a try I Just purchased Two digital 600W Lights w/ air cool hoods, bulbs hangers, 6" inline fan, 6" Can filter all ducting clamps, Two 50 liter bags hydroton, 400gph pump, and a hand full of smaller shit for under $900

HTG is great. Just got 2 600's, 2 T5's, and 2 boxes full of nutes and other goodies.

I had a bad experience with HTG, mostly my fault.
I bought a ton of stuff there one day and had two people helping me pack the car. The suburban trustafarian working that day decided to keep my ballast and reflector, which could not have happened had one of us stayed and watched the guy or had I checked everything before leaving.
I called later that day and they said they make it right. Waited a few days and called back. They told me I was out of luck, that they thought I was someone else who also out a ballast and a reflector.
In a way it was a blessing, because their store-brand stuff is not UL listed and a faulty ballast burned down their florida store.
I guess it's different if you aren't using cash?

Boy, good for you folks. I hate buying stuff over da net for this hobby. Cash beanies is what I like, even tho cash be hard to come by. I got blasted out this a.m. just buying one 150W HPS bulb ($20 at Lowe's - CASH) and then finally found a 175 MH bulb for $40, only to later find out Home Depot carries 'em for $34. For the 6 bucks difference, screw it, but it's Home Depot for them regular base 175W MH from now on. Only got two of each, bargain deal, 10 bucks a pop, got them off craigslist, guy remodeled a parking garage in the city, had a bunch of MH and HPS fixtures. Now we'll see if this is a good use of $. I'm hoping 2 MH and 1 HPS for vege, 2 HPS and 1 MH for buds?
