how much plant can these pots support?

new question: should i go with 4 small plants in 2.5ish gallon pots, 2 medium plants in bigger pots, or 1 big mother plant in a huge pot? which would give me the most yield? i dont care if i'll have to wait longer to harvest..do you think going with the 1 plant, 2 plants, or 4 is going to be best for producing high yield? im looking to get at least a half pound out of this

my closet is 1.5 feet by 2 feet by 8 feet high..thats the situation. 3 square feet at the base, and alot of room for vertical growth

please give me your thoughts on what you think is best for yield with a closet like this

Personally I do not agree. I very seldom grow in anything smaller than 7-gallon pots. When you grow in small pots your plants become root-bound and that can cause a number of problems and it will reduce your yield.


The following symptoms may be observed if you allow your plants to become root-bound:

1. Stunted Growth.
2. Stretching.
3. Smaller and slower bud production.
4. Needs watering too often.
5. Easy to burn with low % nutrient solution mixtures.
6. Wilting

when do you think i should be flowering with pots these size?

Since I never have grown in tiny pots and never will grow in tiny pots I cannot give you a number of days to veg but I would just say flower them very early because they will double to triple in size during flowering and your plants root system will outgrow your pot size very soon and very easily and then you risk problems.

the pots im using really look that small to you eh? im sure theyre at least 2.5 gallons..that couldnt support a small-medium sized healthy plant? or do you really think i should just get 2 really big pots and flower 2 females

ok thats good to hear. im quite sure these are indicas..other than that i dont know. just bought the seeds from one of my dealers who said it was from a really great batch. you think i could fit 4 good plants in these 2.5 gallon pots within this 3 square foot closet floor? i feel like im drifting towards just getting two big pots and growing 2 big plants now

The 2 gal pots are fine for a closet grow. I rarely use bigger than that and I get some pretty nice yields.

Indicas are usally shorter plants so most of mine indicas go in two gal pots. I use blow mold pots so if they get root bound I just fill a 3 gal pot 3/4 full and set my two gal on top of three gal, use duct tape to keep them together and the roots will grow down into the 3 gal pot. If that make sense to you. Hope this helps

whoa guy that is one nice plant in the tub. if mine got that wide and bushy i could only fit 1 of em in my closet, thats what im a bit worried of..how big is that pot/bucket though like 4-5 G?

I've taken plants to harvest in 2.5 gallon containers and can get an ounce per plant off them under a 600 HPS. I've also gotten 6 ounces per plant under a 600 HPS using 7.5 gallon containers. Just depends on plant health and how much veg time you give. I've never done the math to figure out what way yields more annually, but conventional wisdom holds that less veg and more generations of plants in one year yields the most. FWIW.

Yeah i'm kinda lookin for fast more than large so I think i'm just gunna stick to a fast veg period and try to keep the life of the plants at about 2 months max and just get some decent small yields as often as posisble throughout the year. fast $$..

ok..man im pretty new to the terms what do you mean zones? (ounces?), and what is this LST you speak of

I've used 2 gal before ... smaller yeikd but works O.K.

If I had such limited grow space , I'd never use anything smaller than 5 gallon .

a good rule is a gallon for each foot of growth, yes they will get bigger but thats when root bound becomes an issue, so a 5 gal. bucket will grow a 5 foot plant
