lol I figured I should go big from the start and not mess around then to start off with 1 strain. I had the money to get all 8 strains , I wanted a good first time grow so I spent the money. I knew that it would take some time to do my grow space and my room since I work 12 hours a day 5 days a week.

Well here I am. You are one brave soldier. Glad to see you are repping the CFLs and the great white north. I'm facing the same humidity issues right now. This ontario winter provides no moisture in the air what so ever. Looks like we will get an early spring this year though :D Excited to see how this goes. Make sure to keep checking my grow. Things are just starting to get moving nicely. They have all doubled their number of true leaves since I got my space heater.

Yea , I was at my local hydro store and he has a HPS running on some nice house plants and I found it to be realy warm in that area even though I wasn't wearing any thing warm. I chose CFLs because of the less heat

I find that when my temp is cooler in my room the humid levels is lower. When I am making coffee and after my coffee it made but its still on the humid level is in the 30s. My friend said that when him and some other people were growing their humid levels were almost 100% most of the time. I don't know about spring comming early cus 3 days ago it snowed =/ but hey its all good cuz I'm not growing out doors.

I'm realy excited to see what a person can do with CFLs in Canada. Sweet , my room can retain the heat easly , I can have my door open for over 1 hour but right at the door way its like there's a clear door there. I'll be using a few PC fans to help take the cooler air from inside or out side and mix it with my room air to see if that will do some good. I plan on buying an a/c this year for the summer so this shall be very intresting.

Just checking in on you TB, hope everything is all good with you mate. Your humidity concerns me though my brother ... 20% is dangerously low for seedlings/rooting clones, you should be striving for as much as 85% for seedlings, 60% for germination, and 50% for flowering. Let me know how they're reacting to the low humidity, the temperature is fine, but I'm surprised at that humidity. Get back to me brother :blsmoke:

Hey , thanks for droping in and checking up on me. The temp right now is at 74.8 but I think the reason why they are germinating is because I'm doing the water method and not the paper towel method. I just checked up on my germinating seeds and I have 100% germination rate for all 8 strains. The ones that was close to the coffee maker germinated faster then the ones not close to the coffee maker but at least they germinated. I'm going for work so I'll do an update later on today.

You must educate me on this "water method" TB, I'm somewhat old school you could say, despite being younger, and I stick with my tried and true paper towel ;), however I always like alternatives ... care to share?. Keep up the solid work mate

Normally I wouldn't jump on someone else's question but I have a strong opinion in this matter so I'm gonna make the jump. The water method consists of just dropping the seeds into a glass of water and letting them sit until they crack open and the taproot starts to emerge. I ran an experiment with 22 seeds and had some interesting results. I put 10 or 12 into the cups of water to crack and then a day or so later I put another 10 into the paper towel. Both the cups and the paper towel plates were placed on top of my water heater to remain at a constant warm temp. I had a germination ratio of 21/22 which was fantastic but there were some very obvious advantages to the paper towel. The seeds in the water took a total of about 4 days to finish and produced very pathetic looking taproots. The ones in the paper towel on the other hand had all finished with about 36-54 hours and all had nice healthy looking inch long taproots. I was discussing the germination with my mom who has been very helpful with my grow and we determined that the reason the paper towel does better is probably because it challenges the taproot to search for water which cause it to grow rapidly. On the other hand the glass of water method has the seed submerged in water making it too easy for the taproot to get water and in turn stunting the growth.

I wouldn't take any of it as gospel that is simply just my experience on the subject. My results showed a very clear winner though. I will always be doing paper towel germ from now on.

All I can say is I've used the "glass of water" method -- put the glass on top of my amp (turned on, of course..). Keeps it at 84, never waited more than 12 hours for a germ; 100% survival. So easy.. no way I'd put myself thru all that other business.

Hopefully you are able to get as many healthy seedlings as I got. Of my 21 germinated seeds only 1 never showed it's face. 19 of those 20 that made it out are still going strong. I had to give 4 away to a friend though (lucky bastard) I couldn't fit anymore into my box.
