HI Guys

This is my first grow so the space i will be using is small its "27"h "18"w "23" depth and thats in inches guys i intend on growing Little Red Ryder Hood because its small and they say "Ryder Hood is ideal for stealth growing as it has very little odor while growing only smelling strong when touched or pulled apart"
anyone know if that is true or not ??
i will be using a 250w 8u cfl i have a reflector that came with it and a 6400k & 2700k and 2 125w red and blue for left and right side of my cab, what i am stuck on is where should i cut the holes for my fans??high or low??
and would i need a carbon filter for 3 plants?? and what size fans do you think i should get for that space/lights?? any help would be great sorry for my questions but i am baffled i dont want to get the wrong fans they are the final piece of the jigsaw n i am all set to grow !!!!:weed:

Many of your questions can be answered in some basic research of the grow journals and guides, none the less I will try to give you a few answers from my own knowledge.

Most weed is stinky once you enter flowering.... there are many strains that have slightly different/less smell, but it's going to smell like weed. Because of your limited space it will be hard to squeeze a carbon filter in there, but if you want positive smell reduction to almost none, you need to use carbon/activated charcoal filters. There are some tutorials online to make them yourself, but I'm sure they don't work as good as store bought and they are much less effort (Machine packed = :) ... self packing = BIG BLACK MESS).

I'm a little confused on what you mean by:
"i will be using a 250w 8u cfl i have a reflector that came with it and a 6400k & 2700k and 2 125w red and blue for left and right side of my cab"

Are you saying that you will be have both the flowering bulb (Red@2700k) and the vegging bulb (Blue@ 6400k)in the same chamber running at the same time?

As for venting... it is important to have negative pressure in the box to prevent smell from leaking out. That means your fans should be sucking air out of the box through the carbon filter, as opposed to pushing air in the box, as the stinky air can leak out of cracks, and the like. With the cfls having built in ballasts they do produce some heat. As a general guide I would say 3-5 air changes of the chamber per minute would be adequate. Therefore your chamber of 6.468cuft needs a fan that had a cfm rating of 33 or more. Personally I would go more... around 100 would be cool. Fan outtake should be where heat collects (the top of the chamber), and intakes should be cut at the bottom for maximum air flow over plants. A fan inside the chamber is also a good idea to strenghten the stalks and distribute air evenly.

No offense intended, but you need to do some basic research before throwing some seeds in the soil/medium. A great beginners book is "Marijuana Horticulture - The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Growers Bible BY - Jorge Cervantes" I had been interested in growing for years. It wasn't until after I had got some books that brought all the concepts together that I understood much of the basics. That being said my first ever grow I did with only online guides/forums (got one week into flowering, had troubles with the wife, got thrown out, babies died).

Good luck to you!

you seem to have got the wrong end of the stick mate !! i have done my research well to get me started because you can never learn enough !!!
all i was asking is what size fan eg 90mm 100mm etc would be ideal for a small extract fan for a c/f and the same for my intake fan???
and where should i possition them to get the max out of them in that small cab ??
and yes i will be using a 250w red and a few 23 watt blue spec down the sides,l/r skip veg.
so if anyone can help with my questions please help guys

Hobbiest answered your fan question. In this case it's not the size that matters, it's the cfm. If you have a good enough exhaust fan you might not even need an intake fan, just a fan inside the cabinet to keep things moving around.

this should do it :blsmoke:

Joking Aside... place your exhaust at the top of the boxas heat rises.

However the post earlier about a carbon filtration system would be recommended. I appreciate this is not what you was asking.. however its something which is wise to plan for, incase odour could become an issue in the future and your not ready for it.

Hi sykotix,

I came here to post a video clip, about 10-pound-plants in Northern California, but much to my surprise, I see you have stolen a copy of my book, Marijuana Horticulture, and made it easy for others to steal.

I am offended that you steal from me and hide like one who has no pride.

Please remove my stolen work from this thread.
so you want us to see these for free or you dont?

You could always have the carbon filter outside the tent, hot air extracted through ducting into the filter and out.

Another good thing to do is to go to www.youtube.com and view some of my DVD clips. you can download them for free. You can also download the Introduction with the Table of Contents and Chapter One from Marijuana Grow Basics at these links

Hi Jorge

I had a look at the light reflector study you did and found it very interesting but can't quite figure out what the values on X and Y axis mean.

How can I understand it fully please?
