soaked 9 seeds in a wet paper towel for a day and half or so then put them into jiffy peat pots, all nine sprouted in about 3 days
yep i have also used like a sheet only thing with the sheet for me was it retained heat alot in an enclosed box =/. you are right tin foils not the best but it does worki just stumbled upon this thread and i will be following from here on, however i did want to add that in my experience, while tin foil wont HURT your plants, it is not the best material to use, i am used to use it but switched to a flat white shower curtain, it works quite well
Just to make sure u know so u diddnt go runnin to walmart expectin to get some mylar for 1.99 lolJust read your grow and I think i got a couple of solutions/advice for you since I'm nearing the end of my 1st cfl grow.
1. If you're wanting to grow 5-6 plants, you're going to want to get more lights later on, which means you got to get your heat in check.
2. If you can, get a cooler that you can fill with frozen 2 liter bottles (Styrofoam coolers work too) Cut a hole in one side for a dryer vent tube and a smaller hole at the other end to let air in. Then take a computer fan that you can get off ebay for like 10 bucks and hook it up on the inside of the larger hole you cut, put some frozen 2 liters in there and shut the lid and you'll drop temps atleast 5-8 degrees. (There's a tutorial for this somewhere on this site)
3. Hooking up a small exhaust fan for your tub will also help.( good exhaust/intake is essential)
4.Mylar you can get at walmart for about 1.99 THIS IS PER SQUARE FOOT MIND YOU!, tin foil can get hot spots and cause hermaphrodites.
Anyway, hope this helps in someway

its like 40-50 bucks for 50 square feet at the hydrostore...a spaceblanket is ok but way too many wrinkles in itwhat are you talking about man? even if you go to michaels craft store you can get 6-20" X 26" pre cut sheets for about 3 bucks (Thats about 12 sq/t). The shit is SO fucking cheap...if anything else get an emergency blanket from walmart....
...if that's the going rate for mylar where you live, you need to figure out an alternative. Heard jizz give's a nice matte finish after it's dried up...
Reflective Mylar® is made from metalized aluminum on PET(polyester) fiber(this fiber is true Mylar®). As such it derives all reflectance properties from the aluminum coating.Just read your grow and I think i got a couple of solutions/advice for you since I'm nearing the end of my 1st cfl grow.

Reflective Mylar® offers identical reflective results to that of bare aluminum.
