hey,
i'm really new to growing
I have a week old plant that is growing pretty tall(about 8 inches) but the stem is still really skinny.
It seems to be only growing up but not out and it cannot stand up straight and just falls over to the side.
What can i do to stegthen my plant?
thanks

Sounds like its stretched a bit

What you can do right now is get a stick or anything to prop it up for now. Put a fan on it as well so the stem will strengthen(in nature wind strengthens stems)

What lighting are you using?

stays relevant.
Bamboo sticks for support, and there should be a fan blowing on them... I run my fans on and off for one hour each during lights on, and 3 hours off, 1 hour on, 3 off, 1 on, 3 off, 1 on during night schedule so it has a chance to stop being blown around

My stems are sturdy as hell.

Where in the hell am I?

If you don't have a fan handy, you can also ruffle her feathers every other day. GENTLY, move your hands down, SLIGHTLY bending each stem with your palm and fingers. Then run up doing the same, taking care not to crush anything or get vegetation caught in between your fingers...And wash your hands before...

You can also bury the stem right up to the cotyledons if you transplant. Doing this and adding a fan is what I would do. Later, when your buds start getting really big, you can think about adding the sticks.

Also, slight pinching will toughen the stem where you pinched. Like supercropping without bending.

everyone is right so far, but your basic problem is that your lights are too far from the plant. drop the light as low as you can without burning your hand (kept at the top of the plants).
