I've been camming my little ones growing, and i've noticed one of the pots has a little white spec slowly moving around on the surface of the plant.. its extremely tiny like a mite or something or mabe the air moving things? but i doubt it.. WHAT COULD THIS BE! =-o

check under the leaves. spider mites will lay their eggs under the leaves and they look like small red or white dots

they are really tiny, and they are crawling on the surface of the soil.. they seem to be all white maybe and the sprout is just a baby.. so we didn't see anything on the plant.

What could these be? could we cold flush them?

Im going to host a video or screeny of it

without a pic its hard to say but im gonna bet the house that they are gnats in your soil ..are you overwatering?what is your watering schedule? If they are small black insects with clear wings thats what you are probably dealing with..get a good organic pest killer and some no pest strips

im going to put a vid up somewhere and i'll link it, they move very slow so if you speed up the camera its when you can notice them.. theres about 3 moving in different spots..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTR3Z8EAD-4

3 different clips

first part the bugs are far left side there is one.

2nd part is just a bit below the first part.

last part its starts below the 2nd part and then halfway through when you can see it look at the base of the sprout there is 2 walking around there

video is sped up a little bit makes it easier to see them.

they are very small. you have to look close stare at a couple spots while you watch the youtube video i promise you that you will see them moving around.

i dont know what to do about this problem because idk how to identify what they are.

yo emo, i saw the little bug crawling around, but that doesnt look like a spider mite, they r wayy smaller than that and live on your leaves. if it was spider mites u most likely wont be able to see them on the soil, just on the bottom of the leaves. but how many would u say u see crawling around? i would get some neem oil and spray just a tad on ur plants.

today i will try and capture one so i can identify this.

Does anyone know what i could use to kill off anything in my soil without hurting my sprouts.

Also could these be in all my bags of Fox Farm Oceans Forest or do these bugs just come from living area?

I just went out and bought some hot pepper wax and a 25x lens, i scooped some a sample of the soil and set it in a smaller cotainer then tried to find the bugs but still have no luck... it seems like i can only see them on my webcam in very close up/sharp picture and even then they're so small you have to watch it in a fast forwarded motion to see them move around... what could this be? i can't even see them with my eyes

well i spoted 4 mites on your first vid on youtube.....................

in my opinion they defo are bird mites i think they have came in with your soil or if you have birds nesting in you loft space or roof etc this would cause mites

they can survive for 4 months with out feeding on blood so where ever your got your soil from they could have the infestation and your soil was used by the mites as a place for them to lay there eggs
