don't give it any nutes. make sure it is in soil that doesnt have nutes in it (like mg is hard on seedlings). move your light closer so it doesnt bend over.. make sure not to feed it anything but water until it has 3 nodes or so. also, be sure to let the soil dry out b4 watering so you dont drown the baby.

The little white "nuts" you are talking about is called Perlite.

It helps with draining the soil and is basically a filler companies put into their soil.

Not a bad thing.

I think purple stems is a lack of nit, but it'll clear away on your babies as it grows. It's when it starts to get taller and mature that you'll need to add nute's high in nit.

N (Nitrogen) Deficiency: Plants will exhibit lack of vigor as older leaves become yellow (chlorotic) from lack of chlorophyll. Chlorosis will eventually spread throughout the plant. Stems, petioles and lower leaf surfaces may turn purple.

This is because the plant still is still a baby. And it should grow out of it. If its in your older plants now you know why. o.o

I also have had this problem when cloning! NEVER solved it. The mothers were fine, no purple.....a few days after i took the cutting the stem started to get purple veins coming up the stem. I assume this was due to some form of damage although i was very clean and cut with a very sharp new razor. So if anyone knows why this occurred in the clones it may help with the seedlings also having the purple stems.
