First CFL Grow, Temp Questions...

So, Im growing indoors for the first time. Built myself a pretty decent box.
It's 4' X 4' X 17.5". Currently I have my box in my cold celler; A. I thought I would be smart because of the heat issues B. Who goes in someones cold celler? My problem is that i've had the seeds going in there a couple days now and Im concerned that the temperature is to low. The cold celler stays a constant 50F and when my 6 15W 2700K CFL's are going the temp climbs up to between 65 - 70F by the time the 12 hrs is up (im doing 12/12 from seed).

Is this to cold? I have no problem moving my box, but I like that its inconspicuous.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Put a hps up and it will warm things up a little bit. That is Pretty Cold. I usually keep my temps at 75-85 no colder no higher. I would defenatley get it into a Warmer place!:bigjoint:

Thanks, I would like to get an HPS but $$$$ is not really what i have alot of. In the future yea, hopefully I can get one. I did put a 42W CFL in there as well now hoping it will push the temp up a bit. I think tomorrow I will just move everything out of the cold celler and put it under the stairs. My wife wont be happy, but she'll get over once the girls are done growing.

If you could spend 150 dollars on a light i could get you a link to a 400 watt hps with ballast Which is a Really good deal. But yeah Put a heater in there If not

Just keep adding CFLs till its arm enough :) I would only use 100w equivalent (23-26w) CFLs MINIMUM personally. They are just about as cheap and give off more heat/light. Or just get another 42w or two, Home depot has a 68w 300w equivalent for $15, and fits a regular light socket. Its for flowering (2700K) but it puts out some NICE heat and a wide spectrum is always ok.

Good luck to ya, eel free to check out my grow for a pic of that 68w bulb, its football sized lol. link is in my signature

Peace

I grow in my cellar also. I put 2-5gal containers of water in the flowering room as ballast to keep the the temp more consistant after lights out. It raised the low temp 5 deg.

Yeah go back and look, I missed them the first time too. At our Home Depot they were over by the HPS and MH lights, not with the rest of the CFLs. They are a green box and the number 300 is the largest number on the box, which is the wattage equivalent. Good luck, you can always order online, they have even bigger ones online :)
