being that the triple in size. how much longer should i keep them vegging. its been about two weeks now.

How much vertical room do you have in your grow area? Also, If you could take a picture of your whole grow area it would help me because I am a visual person. :leaf:

Well if triple their size now is as big or bigger than you want them I would start flowering as soon as possible. It is ideal to start 12/12 around a month or longer, but not if you have height limitations. Im no pro on the subject, maybe someone else can give you an opinion on whether its to early to veg or not.

KB mentioned soda bottles to grow in - def a good practice but if you do this make sure to light proof the bottles. Don't want any light exposure to the roots. Don't really need to wait for bud sites b4 flower. Like NowISee asked: how big of an area do you have? I started 12/12 at around day 20 and 4" tall and now mine range from 1.5-3' now.

not using halogen i got some big ol cfls now but i had a disaster in the closet while i was at work. the lights are tied to the top shelf of the closet and somehow fell onto one of the plants completely killing it. I am very sad. 2 of the plants were dro and 2 are mids. of course it had to be a dro plant to be destoryed.

three left praying for females. i will start flowering tomorrow more than likely. i have about a foot and a half of grow room. not much room in my tiny closet.

Burying the plants doesnt kill them? If i were to bury them at this stage what would the affects be?

Also when do you guys transplant into bigger containers?
On my first grow but I've had some good luck so far with cfls. I kept them as close as possible with out burning them. For the first three weeks I was on 24 hours. A good way to tell if your to close is to put your hand there and if it's too hot for you its too hot for them.

Transplant once their root bound. Good sign is the roots coming from the bottom of your pots.

So far I'm 6 weeks in and I have 4 super bushy hopefully girls! None of them ever stretched like that? They were 3-4 layers by 3" tall. Check em out!

Here is a pic of my AK47 on day 14, the first day of flowering

If there is one bit of advise I can give is to flower the plant as soon as possible if using CFLs and don't let it grow taller than 4-5 inches during veg. I flowered at 4 inches high and my AK has finally stopped growing vertically but it's over 3 feet high now, and that is with 8 CFLs an inch or less from the foliage! If I had it to do over again I would have started at 12/12. Unfortunately my plant is too tall and unruly and isn't getting enough light, even with 8 CFLs! (240w total). You can see day 51 pics here.

I forced my plant to flower at 14 days and it started to show sex 2 weeks later. If you're using CFLs its not a good idea to wait for pre-flowers because your plant is going to grow way too big that it would require massive amounts of CFLs. Of course, not allowing the plant to pre-flower is going to put stress on the plant and potentially cause sexual dysfunction but you don't have much choice if you're using CFLs due to their limited lumen intensity.

appreciate the input man. like i said yield is not an issue. just seeing if its possible to grow in such a small place and come out with some alright smoke.

These environmental factors wont effect the potency, only the yield. The potency is determined by the strain, the harvest time, and, some would debate, the fertilizers used. Of course nutes might make the smoke more potent but that might be because you're smoking cannabinoids and fertilizer. The important thing to know is that the strength of the smoke is determined by the genetics and when you harvest (each stage of trichome growth causes different effects on the body).
