How does a DWC system work?

do you just have your water with an air pump going into an airstone? I think it must be more complex than that right?

well I have looked into this a bit further and i think im going to try to get together some supplies and grow some of my WW using DWC and see how it goes.

correct. just like a fish tank. the roots of plants can sit in water ONLY if the water has high oxygen levels. so you need to pump air to a good airstone or a couple.

I love the fast growth rate but I have a few question for ya we a fish tank pump or two be sufficient for a rubbermaid tub Im thinking of trying to make my own outa one seems like a really simple thing to make. What are all the things that I should get that I will need like ph tester and stuff like that I have never tried a hydro setup so any input would be very much appreciated.

most likely you will need at least two air pumps for your setup. gangway valves help to splice the airlines so you can have more than 2-4 airstones. a ph meter is a must, as is an ec or tds meter which will allow you to keep tabs on how much nutrients your plants are using.

hope this helps!

sure does thx

Don't buy two air pumps :S just get one, there are good pumps out there, check on ebay, there are piston driven pumps that would power 50 air stones if you wanted to go that way, shop around for your pump. I try to have around about 130 litres per hour minimum per stone.
