White mold INSIDE stem

I had used some old earthworm casting in a batch of dirt and the plants i planted in the dirt developed a white mold INSIDE the stem.

The bottom of the stems started shiveling and they fell over. Inside the stem was white mold that was growing up throughout the plant!!!!!

I trashed those plants and started over but my seedlings in the next batch aren't doing well and i'm very worried that it has something to do with that white stem fungus.

Does anyone know anything about what that white fungus in the stem is? Maybe it's a super-spore or something that's going to ruin my life and kill evrythingi touch!!!

Sounds like stem rot maybe. Can't tell you much about it since I never had the problem or tried to help anyone with it. But I can say adding some beneficial bacteria to the grow is always good. Try doing a search on those. Do you know anything about those?

I'm pretty sure it's pythium.

Is this stuff a super fungus or what? I have a relative humidity of 30%.

Might have more to due with temps, what are they? And to wet around the stems? What did you use for dirt? Did you add anything else?

Do you have any pics?

Are you sure it's not just the plant fibers inside the hollow stem? Seems weird that a fungus would grow inside a stem at 30% humidity.

I know when I top my plants, they are hollow and you can see white fibers inside before it seals itself up.

I added a ton of michorizhaye.

I tossed all the infected dirt, washed the bucket i keep the dirt in with bleach and i threw the affected pots away.

I filled up thed bucket with new:

promix
castings
blood meal
bone meal
lime
michorizaye

closed it up and when i opened the container a week later it had mold on the top and there was water build up around and on the lid.

Can anyone help with how to get rid of this stuff???????

I planted some new seedling and they're all dying!!!

no pics - it's pythium. 100% sure.

I just can't seem to eradicate it!

The only thing i kept that the infected dirt touched was the rubber-maid i keep my soil mix in like i said above

Now that i've seen the white mold growing in my mix bucket again should i throw away the mix again? I scaped away the mold off the top and i have a fan drying out all the dirt in it now.

Is this 'white mold' in the stem? Like the inside of a straw? I'm pretty sure thats normal mate... Its not mold, its part of the plant...

I am sure.

It's some form of damping off.

Sure sure sure sure sure.

The killed the older plants that had it and now my seedlings are dying from damping off.

This fungus spreads toooooooo easily. I am pissed.

I wish i still had the picture of after i cut the top off the plant to try to clone it to save the genetics.

The fungus literally grew out the whole in the top of the stem. It was GROSS.

Scrap it all. Wipe down your entire grow room with anti-bactierial disinfectent, all tools, pots, bottle, walls, floors, corners... HANDS.... etc. Make sure the room dries out for a few days. See how that turns out?

Just another suggestion, skip the soil mix if you can and get some Foxfarm Ocean Forest soil. To me if you can get that local there is no need to mix your own, it works great. And don't seal it completely, let it breath a little. Along with the mycorrhizal get another form of beneficial bacteria, something like AN's Tarantula. Doesn't have to be that one just something along the same lines.

Well i just recently got some new genetics from BCBudDepot and i planted them in soil straight from the Promix bail with some perlite added in.

If these come down with this fungus i'm going to flip out.

There's nothing in there but promix and perlite!!!!

Does you guys' perlite discolor on top? I don't remember if my perlite was discolored when things were actually growing.
