would this be bad to do to my plants? i wanted to see which of my plants wer male so i could cut them down and i did so and now im trying to grow my girls back up another foot or two until i flower them again.

hmm ya ive been considering doing the same thing to my plants once they get a bit bigger, itd be great to know whether doing so would cause hermies or not

Any stress to the plant has the possibility of causing a plant to herm. Personally I have not put a plant into flowering then back into veg, but I have heard of plenty of people doin it successfully and with how short you've had the lights switched to 12/12, it shouldn't cause any lasting damage.

Yes Ive seen it done numerous times here on RIU. There is a guy "mamasgirls" who does it to clones everytime he clones a flowering plant.
Most people will do a 24/0 light schedule for the first week. Is it a confirmed female? Do you see white hairs growing at the nodes?
Good luck

yea i have two females and had two males. its working tho the girls where just stunted at first but there growing now.
i also plan on cloning them when they grow up

and i did see two white hairs coming out of the two top nodes of each plant

Its fine to do that.. You'll notice some funny mutant single lobed, smoothly margined leaf growth for a little while perhaps, but it will return to true form..
