in the growfaq it says
" A 250 watt HID will illuminate a 2' x 2' garden.
A 400 watt HID will illuminate a 3' x 3' garden."

but the 250 watt hps is only 5 bucks cheaper than the 400 watt hps. Would 400 watter be overdoing it for a 2x2 growing area? only about 2-3 plants

Go with the conversion...add the hood as suggested. You'll be fine and only have to swap a bulb when its time to flower.

Not to mention having 400Watts for the entire grow. I would skip the the smaller lights if I were you.

i highly recommend the cooltube

Yeah those reflectors are the bang for the buck that is for sure! Just make sure that the socket that comes with it, is compatible with your ballast. And man, if you can afford a digital ballast, just pull the trigger! The galaxy 400 is a very nice unit! When you purchase everything together, including bulb, you will usually get a nice discount also...GL and let us know what you end up purchasing!

400 watter will get you bigger tighter buds then a 250 hps.Heat can be an issue but if you can cool it go with the 400 watter. Cool tubes you have to watch the ones with built in reflectors waste light as the reflector is to close around bulb. Maryland Hydroponics has o good deals on switchable digital ballast 400 watters are $99 plus shiiping and are digital and run both mh and hps bulbs.Good luck on the grow

lol Im always lurkin for a good thread to jump on Maryland should hire me for PR lo. No seriously Im just happy with the place.I only buy mu ballast from there as its the cheapest place for the ballast that are digital and run both mh and hps. I then shop for my reflectors and bulbs else where as you can get them cheaper looking around.I paid like $20 for my 600 watt bulbs and $12 for my 400 watt bulbs both enhanced spectrum on ebay. I grabed my reflectors from sunleaves.com watching for sales. They are regular $39 but I got my last 2 for $28.99 each so great deals. Maryland took good care of me.I just had an issue come up with the digital ballast in the form of a recall due to a fault in a small batch of the 600 watt units so for the inconvience they swapped me the nicer more exspensive Lumetek 600 ballast free of charge or shipping and these have a longer 5 year warranty.Gotta luv a store who stands by what they sell and compensate if there is an issue without even me asking for an upgrade.Good growing

Yeah man, you should Rep for these guys! Hey I looked around there site and could not find the 400w digital ballast for $99.. Every time I click on the icon for the MD Hydro, or even Lumatek ballasts it just puts me back at the home page..? Am I missing something? I am asking this because if I send someone to there page, I would like to be able to dirrect them to the product I am talking about.. Thanks for your time Fletch..
