i should mention, i do keep the lights inches away, i took this pics while i was doing some lower leaf trimming...
Im bored so heres the wholse story:
As I said, I am learning as I go... I threw some random seeds into some flower pots i have at my place... and they sprouted right up... but were stringy and unhealthy. I then bought the miracle grow soil and some mini peat moss cups, and planted about 30 seeds, but had no idea what I was doing. When I started poking around the internet (mostly youtube and this site) I realized how sophisticated of a science it can be. I realized the few hours of sunlight in front of my slider were certainly not enough to grow indoors, so I went and come some lights. Still not knowing what I was doing, I then went to walmart and got two of the GE plant and aquarium lights, thinking this would cut it. At this point I had about 20 seedlings popping out of the 6 oz peat moss cups. Doing more research, I realized that its all a waste of time unless I invested in some decent lighting. I didnt wanna get too crazy (yet), so I the biggest CFLs I could get from Lowes (At this point I also understood about the light temperature). I also realized around this time that I was horribly overwatering them and poisoning them with the city tap water.
I started buying gallons of spring water, did some adjustments to bring the lights closer, and started watering every few days, and they have exploded (at least for my standards...) over the past few weeks.
There are three that I have marked that are from great seeds, the rest are randoms...
Here are some questions:
I picked up some ionizers from home... do they do anything except negate odor? do they make the plants healthier somehow?
The reason for me finally posting is that I want to know: has anyone grown to harvest in beer pong cups? do I have to transfer? space is an issue, so I might have to make a few cuts from the team. I figured that maybe once they sex and the males are gone maybe there will be enough room to upgrade pot size... is this too late?
As I mentioned, my technique has been evolving... So there are sort of epochs with my batch... there are the ones that I threw into the flower pots, ones that sprouted in the little peat moss cups, ones that I germinated and planted in the peat moss cups and have had a decent life of lighting. There are ones that were seedlings in peat moss and transfered to beer pongs and ones that have lived only in the beer pong cups... Anyways, yesterday I pulled two males!! and see that five are female!! They are on 18/6 lighting... why are they sexing? Is it because they are so old? The oldest are now two months old...
here are some pics of the process... also, I know now that tin foil is bad... like I said, my technique is evolving!!
