It depends on your situation. If you're starting off with a lot of plants and am planning on weeding some out later then by all means start in cups. But if not, I'd just start in their lifetime containers. Thats how I prefer to do it. I've never experienced any serious transplant shock{only transplanted a few times quite frankly} but best to avoid it all together if you can.

i agree with the above post ^^^^^^ yes sir.
i like to transplant so i can fit more under the lights early on.
its best to put into the final pot, but you must be careful not to overwater when the plant is small. there is not enough roots to be needing a lot of water.
on the other hand dont underwater either lol.

I grow in clear cups w/holes in bottom for water drains. I cut the bottom out of the color cup and use as a sleeve.

You can watch roots without light harming them.

You can use diff colors (I use red and blue) to help keep track of the plants.

the roots

Type #1's

Type #3's

All 15 girls went into 1 gallon pots or bigger cup. I was a hassle (if you have room go bigger) but you can pull it off to harvest.

Some root balls

44 oz cup harvest around day 80.

Plants #'s:

Strain = Strawberry Jam
1-01 23.0g
1-02 23.2g
1-03 26.5g
1-04 28.3g
1-05 7.2g
1-06 27.2g

Strain = DonkeyDick
3-01 42.8g
3-02 23.1g
3-03 35.3g
3-04 36.6g
3-05 28.6g
3-06 26.8g
3-07 21.3g
3-08 42.1g
3-09 6.9g

taste samples of 2.3g

totol this grow with 15 plants = 401.2g about 14.3 oz not bad

26.75g per plant just under 1 oz.

I'm very happy at the start I thougt I'd get 7 or 8 30g plants so that 161g more than I was expecting.
