Varying Bud Density in Hydro Setup

Hey all,
I have read many, many threads, pdf formatted guides, and have talked to many experienced growers (mostly California residents). Recently it was decided to grow some hydroponic buds, especially with the hugh cost around my area and such low quality, it seemed like a good idea in this recession. Anyways, we are 3 days from week 6 of growing and i have 2, 150w HPS lights, along with 2 65w cfl lights (dual spectrum). I have 2 fans in the room and 4 plants varying in size and strain. My shortest plant has some well developing nugs, with what seems to be a good density. The plant right next to it is a bit taller, but also had denser nugs, and the biggest top cola of all my girls. However, when i look on the other side of my hydro kit, the other two plants are much taller, with much smaller, airy nugs, which is a strong area of concern for me, Im not sure if there is something that I am doing wrong or if its just from the strain. I had to bend my tallest 2 plants because they are running out of room and I just dont know if its worth keeping them if they have such airy nugs, or if i should focus my lights onto the 2 fattest plants and make brownies with the others. Please any advice on what to do, would be very helpful. I just switched nutes to FF Big bloom and a little bit of Molasses. Also, please tell me how the girls look for being 2 days short of week 6 of their flowering cycle.

Thanks ;) Happy Smokin :joint:

Sounds like you need more light for the other plants. Looks like it, too, judging by your light placement. You might wish to consider a dump of the molasses out of your DWC, it's pointless unless you're also running a bacterial culture, and in that case there are far better additives you could use that won't run you the risk of fouling up your airstone. :)

It still looks quite nice.

Thank you for such a prompt response.

I know that in the garden picture you cant really see, but i actually have 4 lights total. Where you see the tops tied down there is another HPS light right above those. Also, there is a white spectrum light not pictured to the very right of the garden. I added a slightly better picture where you can see where all the lights are in the setup, please let me know if i need to still re-adjust the lights.

What would you recommend for extra nutrients if any, instead of the molasses? Currently i am using only fox farms nutes, and a very very small amount of the stealth micro and bloom that came with the DWC setup, and 2 tablespoons of molasses to 6 gallons of water.

Thanks

Just stick with what you're using, they look great. The molasses probably isn't helping any since it's doubtful you're running a bacterial culture.

And I do see where your lights are, Still saying it's not enough. the reason the bottoms stretched is because your lights are all above. To keep the plant compact you should keep the lighting around the plant. Of course, it looks like you're growing a very sativa-dominant type of plant, so that kind of stretch is somewhat expected. But you can help keep a plant more compact by keeping light as close as possible to it and giving the side branches more light as well.

Go here to my grow and see what I mean: https://www.rollitup.org/dwc-bubbleponics/191520-kalikitsunes-white-widow-purple-kush.html These are only 4 weeks old and just started 12/12 today.

I had another suggestion from my buddy in Cali and he told me to possibly take the 2 cfl's and run them pointing up from the bottom of the plants. Is this a good idea? And I actually had a suspicion that there was some sativa in the mix, lol.

Thanks again :)

Well, because this is a first time grow, the seeds were from different bagseed that i have collected over the past few months. (This is also the last time that i use bagseed vs. seeds that have good and similar genetics) A couple were supposed to be some medicinal purps, but im not 100% on that. Althought i do know that the bags they came from only had maybe 6 seeds to a full oz about. (Not many seeds) Actually i cant wait to complete this grow because i have some feminized Ice seeds begging to be germinated! :) :joint:
