Covered box in alloy tape leaving a strip out for level gauge

will make a cover for this as no light should enter the root chamber

your right i do feel abit cUrAzY every now and then

you need not worry about the airstone,,it come with the kit which cost peanuts so it will be used for the time being,,aqua centres sell airstones in all shapes and sizes so an upgrade is possible

You may not care about the airstone, but it is the center piece of this type of grow. The girls care about the airstone and so should you. :hump:

steady down bud i said nothing about not caring about it,,the airpump come as a kit with pipe and stone so i used it for assembly

you know that feeling when you buy something,,get home,,chuck the instructions to the side and plug it in:hump:

next few things are
check valve
internal temp gauge
top cover
larger airstone:rolleyes:

what temps do you keep your water??

I hear you. I think the general idea is to give them as much light and o2 as possible. When you upgrade the stone you'll see what I mean. The cost to upgrade to multiple airstones is easily justified.

I think 60-70 is the target and 75 is tolerable.

Good luck with the grow

cheers, just building for now getting it running right

would running 2 or 3 airstones off the same pump be any better to distrubute oxygen round the tank or just one large one in the centre?

also is the any sort of nutrients i can get from garden centre's to work in this system?

Another $20 at Wally World and you can blow bubbles 6-8 inches out of the tub and have dual pumps and stones for fail-safe redundency. You should add a water level tube to your tub, real simple and no glue.

i was thinking about just adding a T-piece to the airline with another length of pipe and fitting a second stone to other side of the tank,,,no extra bubbles just distrubuting better

the airppump ive got is rated for a garden pond so it should be upto the job??

also looking at airstones you can get 4inch ones for 1.00 or 6inch for 1.50,,will get a few to try out

meltdown,,if you look through the build again ive already sorted a level gauge.the good thing about using a clear tub is when you alloy tape it just leave a strip out for your gauge and make a cover for it,,,,beats cutting holes and no worry for leaks when iam out:hump:

found a neat little aquaruim temp gauge,,,its vertical and got a suction pad to fit inside the tub

the good thing with having a level gauge like this is i can fit the temp gauge inside and check without lifting the hole crop,,again to me this beats using those electrical wire/probe temp gauges

I have the same type of water temp gauge. Good luck reading it through plastic, I can barely read mine up close. Wish I had an electric probe.

You do not have to worry at all about leaking if you use grommets and barbed valves. Same stuff the manufactures use to assemble their systems. My tube was less than $4

all is well, this tub is clear/see through plastic,,had water sat in it at a steady 65f

not sure if il see it when nutes are added but its a budget build so it will do the job

another thing about the level gauge is its always covered so the box is light proof,,only lift the cover to check once a day.ive heard about people having problems with the coloured tube causing alge

its not that i dont trust myself with fitting a tube gauge,,this way just seems more practical, easier and safer

another Q for anyone to answer
what time schedules do you run your airpumps??are they diff for clones, veg and flowering?

LOL. You posted a thread in DWC about custom builds and are now asking about airpump schedule. I should have known after seeing the clear tub and airstone you stared with.

Good Luck on your grow.

not sure what ive said for this guy to be amused,,just after some info about DWC systems to improve what ive built

looking through threads alot of people have different times they runs there airpumps,,1min on 5min off,,,,10min on 30min off,,,24hrs on

i would like to give the pump a breather so wondered what times people run theres???
