Nope ... you'll have to put them into the flowering mode. After about three weeks of 12/12 you'll be able to tell the sex. So, take the cuttings and number them so you know which plants they came from. That way, you can toss the males out.

what you can do is take a opaque bag and put it over one of the branches and tie it off for 12 hours and take it off and keep doing this and that one branch will start to flower.

First off aces just chill. Telling them apart is easier than you think. I'm coming up to 4 weeks flower now on my first grow and just like you I was shitting myself that it was going to be a nightmare telling them apart. I envisioned my entire crop turning to seed like all the horror stories you have probably heard.

I won't bore you by telling you what to look for as I know you've probably looked at several different pictures. All I will say is that 2 weeks into flowering every single male was removed from my garden. The trick is not to wait too long. I was pulling males within the first week, I didn't wait for the bunches to form. Just one ball could do it for me. The best thing to do is wait until a female starts to show, you don't need the pistils to be coming out, you should be able to tell from the very shape. There is a marked difference between the two.

The clone king was supposed to come and show us the males but we'd done it all by the time he visited, he was well impressed. With what, I don't know because telling them apart is a piece of piss.

Oh yeah, how many plants you got? You've gotta watch out for hermies too.

My boyfriends plant is about 3-4 weeks old. He has grown a plant (rafiki) before but it turned out to be a male plant. He just started this new one (sheviah) and its turning out just as the other one did.

i was wondering if there are any experienced growers that could help me on seeing if its a female or male so we can restart soon as possible if its a male. i know its pretty early to be able to tell but one of my friends told me if your experienced enough you'd be able to tell the difference between male and female pretty quick.

It's still just a baby. You wont be able to tell sex until you've switched to the flowering stage.

I've had plants show pre flowers about 40 days into the veg cycle. Normally a plant will show pre flowers during veg when it reaches a certain level of maturity. Most of us never make it that far and wait for about 7-14 days into the 12/12 cycle to find out.

thats the way to do it ideally.force flowering is very common(and i am guilty of this after 4 weeks) but if you wait 6-8 weeks in vegg mode the plant will show sex when it becomes sexually mature. The most common method is to force flower a labeled clone to determine the sex, rather than the incorrect method of forcing the seedling and then reverting it to vegetative growth again.

If you are a seedling grower who does not clone, or a grower who has no seperate vegetative and flowering grow spaces, the easiest method is simply to wait for the preflowers (primordia), and sexual maturity to appear while the seedling is still in vegetative growth. In other words, if you wait until they are 6 to 8 weeks old, most plants will show you their gender without any forcing.

Seedling growers who don't clone are really missing out on the full potency potential of their finished crop whenever they force their seedlings before they've become sexually mature.

plants show pre flowers in the veg stage.. your supposed to wait til this time anyway before you flower them because it is then when they become mature enough to enter the flowering stage.. thats one way you can tell wether its make or female before flowering
