It would get very hot on the plants and probably not provide the spectrum needed. I have used these for reptiles and they emit very hot light.

i don't think so, go get some cfl's if desperate.

Nah. Total wrong spectrum. Put out more heat than light. Reptile lamps do have a place, in the reptiles vivarium! I agree, if you are tight for cash, get some cfls.

probably for one small well trimmed plant in a small reflective environment. like 1-1/2 feet

Is that a 150w cfl or a 30w that is equal to a 150 incandescent?

so i went to walmart to get the cfl but all they had were small ones like 19 watts comparable to 75w on incadescetnt bulbs will theese work?

Yeah they will work. I am not saying you will get massive yields but they will prob be about ample for the job. Remember the more light the better. Would go for maybe four of them though, as with only 1 you may struggle, and try and position them within an inch of the foliage. There is loads of good stuff on here about the pros and cons of using Cfls. I have used them myself with not bad results. Best of luck.

Thanks dude...im just not sure how to get more lights in my grow box lol i have a lamp turned upside down with a cfl in it but i have no more room should i just get a double light socket thing at the hardware store and hang 3 in there total its in an aread like a 1 and 1/2 foot wide and 3 1/2 foot high???
