400w HPS vs 600w

Im in the process of buying a new HPS.

question is should i pay double the price for a 600w? i can get the 400 for R600 and the 600w for R1600 i see the lumens comparison is 55000 vs 90000 but realistically will it be worth it? will i really see bigger buds?

What's your grow space dimensions and how do you plan on cooling the light? What type of reflector are you going to use, air cooled or open?

the grow space is a small bedroom prob about 3m x 3m with 2 trays on each side of the wall and 2 600w lights..

i dont really have a cooling plan besides an extractor blowing air out of the room and a small inline fan blowing air in..

the transformer will be outside the grow room so that should save a bit of heat... how big of a difference is it between the 600 and the 400? is it worth the extra cash? price vs yield in comparison to the 400w....

Having two 600 watters is like having three 400 watt bulbs temp wise so there is a big difference. I personally wouldn't go with the 600's if you can't cool them because having good temps is key. If you can cool them then you should most def get them because they will out perform two 400 watters I guarantee you that. I think that if you have a powerful exhaust fan you could get away with the 600s

Awsome.. prioraty would be big yield so i could always get a better extractor and use the smaller one for intake.. i presume a safe temp would be 30 degreese for flowering? anything after that is a problem?

600'sall the way man, the only reason to use a 400 instead is if you are limited on space....which your not so get the 600's they will pay for themselves in no time

Hey Adam.

I sent you a pm but i dont think it worked for some reason..

got quotes yesterday. Cheapest i could find was a place called www.toefy.co.za
but you can go to any electrical shop..

Heres what you need.

ballast/transformer R312
CapasitorR49
Egnitor R52.44
Bulb R188
Bulb Holder R21
You need to wire everyhing up yourself but it works out ALLOT cheaper than buying the complete HPS.. Grow shop want R1500 just for the ballast !!
Also you need a reflector. im just going to make my own one. but you can get them from the grow shop aswell.
