Question color of 1000w HPS light

Yo, first time posting, long time reader. I got a question that I've been having a hard time finding an answer for. I've been growing for a couplle months now and noticed my 1000w HPS when its first turned on has a white light, which I'm guessing is normal, then it gets orange as its heating up, (which I'm also guessing is normal) but as it runs the orange tint goes away and it runs as a much more whiteish light like a floro. I'm wondering if this light is defective or is this normal? All the pics I've seen of 1000w HPS running has an orange glow... mine doesn't.

Right now i have plants growing but they haven't been growing very fast. I've been wondering if it is because of the light.

I have a grow tent made with panda plastic. Has no effective on the color of the light I'm almost certain because when the light is heating up it is orange.

Thats all I got.

Any info would help. Thanks in advance guys.

it turns white starting, then evens out, if it's PINK or reddish white, turning off and on, then you probably need a replacement.

What brand/model is the bulb and how long have you used it? The color spectrum can be different if it's one of those mixed spectrum or enhanced spectrum bulbs. If it's just a straight HPS without an added halide spectrum in it then you probably do need to replace it.

They're cheap enough if you order online at like 1000bulbs.com or ebay or something. I snagged a few cases of sylvania's at $10 a bulb on ebay a while back with free shipping. Just depends on your luck I guess. It's good to have a few spares if you can afford it.
