im growing 8 plants under a 600w hps lamp in a 3.5 ft long by 2.5 wide by 8 ft high closet. do you guys think that is too much light? i can maintain the temps at around 80-85ish during the day.

The industry standard says that for every 3 X 3 area, use 600W. I'd say your choice was perfect. A 1000W light is supposedly enough for a 4 X 4 area. I've always had mine on movers though.

plants can never get enough light look at the sun nobody can ever make a light as strong as the sun so dont worry about the plants just worry about the distance (from the plants and from the wall dont wanna start a fire) but sounds like a pretty good setup

if u got too much light ur leaves turn white..bleaching...not to say by anymeans 1 600watter when cooled will do that..its just very possible.. not a 'never' thing

I wouldn't go any higher than 600, given your grow space. And really, its only because of temp issues. I think its great that you're keeping it 80-85.

A 400 watt system could cover your grow area, and you'ld be able to keep your temps down even lower.
