Alright, I'm starting this thread mostly to show new growers and advance growers that they can takes awsome pics of there babies without been a pro photographer.

Pretty much anyone who has ever growing weed before or has got a bag of dank has wanted to take a pic at some time.

Now I have tried to take a few pics of my plants unsucessfully. They haven't been to the standard and the quality of the seed banks and to the quality of some growers on here.

I would like to know some tips & tricks to take good pics, of this plants that are dripping in nice fat juicy trichomes.

1 tip I know already is if you put a piece of tissue over the flash it improves pic, however I am not sure why but I was told to do this. If anyone knows the answer please feel free to post it and if you know any more tips, feel free to post away :)

Its pretty easy...

You just point and shoot...

Aim the lens at the buds and stare at the screen until it looks like what you want then hit the shutter button...

Should the tissue be any particular color or just plain white?

hey davey, I would use white tissue, crakerjax said this to me as why you should have tissue over flash.

"By the way, the tissue diffuses and softens the light so the macro subjects colors aren't bleached out."

so all credit goes to crackerjax, for that qoute.

Any more tips & tricks much appreciated.

ohhh, i wish things where that easy
Yea, it really is with a point and shoot camera.

You dont have to set ANY of these things prior to your shot, it is done automatically.

Focus
White Balance
Exposure
Aperture
ISO Rating
Flash

Its called a point and shoot for a reason.

I you can't take good pictures with a point and shoot, you need to read the manual and learn how to point and shoot with better aim.

Tip:

While cellphones do have cameras, they are basically worthless for taking really good pics.
Get a real camera for the first step up in quality.

with flash pics it helps sometimes to have a reasonably uniform and dark background to absorb the shadows generated by the flash.

I've never actually thought about that, it's amazing how simple things can be but you just don't think about it. Do you think the side of my growtent will help my pics? instead of white light pics, such as daytime pics.

cheers

not sure what you mean by white light or daylight pics? as long as it is dark in colour and uniform to allow the individual details of the leaves and stem and sex to be differentiated.

yea u nearly had it on the nose, what I mean by white light, is day light, as I always thouht that would produce best pic, however when you said about dark colour it's so simple idea but yet you just don't think about it.:eyesmoke::eyesmoke:

Download Irfanview. It's free and a great starter program that's intuitive.

Don't be afraid to take 10 shots of the same thing. Change it up (settings), and experiment.

While I'd love a Digital SLR I can't quite afford one at this point. Right now I'm working with a Canon Power Shot SD800 IS.

This thing works great.

The best tip I can give is to put away the tissues and turn off the flash altogether. External lighting is always best. I like taking the pics directly under my grow lights. (The cool spectrum bulbs provide the best lighting condition for pictures, but the warm ones still work pretty good too).

The other thing I do is change the shooting mode from "landscape" or "portrait" to "Macro". While not as good as a DSLR, my point and shoot's "Macro mode" allows for the close up shots required to get up close and personal with my plants.

Finally, take a zillion pics. I always spend a good half hour or so with my plants snapping all sorts of angles over and over. You'll catch things with the camera you didn't even know where there. Best thing about digital is, its easy to weed out the bad pics later. (pun intended:roll:)

Take a look at my Journal to see my pics.
