HPS Light help!

So i've got three 1 1/2 week old seedlings going indoors right now. They are under 3 26 W day light CFL bulbs. I have a 400W HPS light that i want to switch them over to within the next week. Any suggestions as to how far away i should place the light from the top of the plants? The HPS light has a relflective hood, and i've got 3 fans ready to go on them. Suggestions on the HPS light length from the top of the plant would be great. Thanks a lot

until they grow out of the seedling stage into the veg stage i would keep the lamp about 30 to 45cm above the plants and when they start vegging then move the lamps lower

what do you mean out of the seedling stage and in to the vegg state ???????.
