How far away is your light? If it's a cfl it should be 2-4 in above. The plant is stretching. Get a fan blowing a gentle breeze on it, that will strengthen up the stem.

I have the light about 4" mabye 5" away. I was thinkin about using a HPS light but will it be ok in the veg stage?

just place the lights a lot closer and if that dosnt work you might wanna consider LST and the fan thing is good advice also.

HPS will give you a better lumen output than CFL. You can get around 15k lumens from a good 150w HPS. You can use it for vegging, but the red spectrum tends to make the plants grow lanky.

100w MH and 150w HPS lamps are usually available at wal-mart or home depot or lowes as security lights. With a little rewiring you can remove the ballast from the light fixture and reduce your heat. If you've got ~$100 to throw at it definitely invest it in HID llighting.

For 1 plant I personally wouldn't bother with an HPS. Get your cfl down around 2" from the top. When it gets bigger you can surround it with 4 -6 6500k cfl's for veg, then switch to 2700k cfl's for flower. Don't over water it and don't over fert it. Good luck bro

That plant is stretching like a pro. Definetly get a couple cfls on the sides at least for now... make sure your light on the top isn't hanging straight down... make it hang so the whole side is exposed to the top of the plant. If you don't have a reflector there, you can make one from just about anything. Good luck!
