MH or Tubes for vegg REP+

I would like to find out if floro tubes would be better then MH for vegging up to around 1ft plants. I usually use MH but the few times I've used tubes they did great but i would like to get some opinions on whether I should switch my whole vegg over to tubes.
I should also add that im using a extra blue mh grow bulb for vegg and there going into HPS for flowering (like always). ill give some rep++ to any helpful post Thanks for any and all that post back

I grew my last veg stage on 2*225 watt blue spectrum cfl's and
had my best veg growth results ever,was using floro tubes prior to that,
but have to say the big cfl's rock for veg growth,tried flowering with the same
bulb's in red spectrum and quickly switched back to my trusty hps!!!!!
Good look either way!!

But would the extra blue mh be better then that? it will need to be good enough for around 50 plants i dont think cfls would do the job at all i would need hundreds of bulbs

I dunno,all i can say is they are great bulbs,
you can keep them an inch or two away from the top,
i vegged my last lot for 4 weeks and they were 2.5 ft
tall,they are now over 3ft tall after two weeks flowering on hps
check out my thread,super skunk and clones to see them,might give you a better
idea of how they compare to mh!

well all i have to say is according to the grow bible if you use MH bulbs make sure the spectrum is around 3000k for the optimum growth during veg.
your plants will be thanking you for that bulb... so just do some research and compare light spectrums and lumes and you should be fine.

yes i have tubes for veg. they work great i got them at walmart. im still trying to situate my grow closet so my mother plant is under tubes. i should be finished this week.

i also have a hps/mh sunleaves 400w system but fornow tubes are workin.

sorry if this is kinda rambeling im just too..fuck it..

no your not rambling, your cool , i need all opinions! good or bad , and from my reading they are about the same (if your useing horticulture bulbs) my MH is 5000 to 6500k so if i added a 3000k MH i would be at "optimal" ? Tubes would just make my space so much easier to work in. a very long shelf of tubes vs. a big square so packed with babies that i would not be able to move around..................anyway THANKS draglow!

I use T-5 tubes for veg now...have a 400 halide BUT i am getting better results from the T-5's BUT i am not growing 50-plants either. My inside closet was a staggering 90degrees with my 400 halide. the T-5 in there is now 78! :hump: again i am only growing a few plants. right now over 3-foot and just now started seeing some die off from lower leafs not getting enough light. Had to "top" "crop" and LST them now :mrgreen:

what do you use to flower......trusty hps?
i am a firm believer in the t5's too, never used but seen. i just think the plants like it more:weed: but the stupid "charts" say they are bout the same........fuck the charts , thats why i am askin u guys :D !

P.S. I meant to say 5 plants not 50................

my first grow used T-5's the whole way...took in over 6oz wet from one plant....second grow i used 400-halide with sunmaster warm bulb for flower (all T-5 vegging) and again decent yield...i just now this grow decided to by the HPS conversion bulb and am seeing fantastic results so far :hump: i think 5-plants is doable with T-5's! ill snap some new pictures tonight when i get home and show ya mine. I have read that T-5's are pretty damn close for lights. I really like the T-5's very forgiving in summer with heat issues...the plants can damn near touch the bulbs with very little burning.

to answer my own thread : i think i'll stick with the 1000mh for now an when i get some more loot, i'll buy some tubes , i believe the spectrum in tubes are a cunt hair better than HID , but they are WAY better for heat issues and space !!

I use T8 4ft lamps in a 5000K for both clones and veg, they stay nice a tight when growing. My clone lamp is a 2 lamp 4ft T8 and my veg is a 2x4 troffer that I modified to hold 8 t8 lamps 4ft long.

I even have another 2x4 troffer that I modified to hold 8 t8 4ft lmaps but I use 3000K laps in that one for the first 2 to 3 weeks of 12/12, the plant still gets a nice growth jump but it nodes are spaced closer together. I have an afy that was done this way going into 12/12, it still jumped around 15" but the nodes were about 1/2" to 3/4" apart instead of the normal 1" to 3" of spacing. So same stretch but tighter node spacing.

Plus T8 lamps retail for $4.00 to $6.00 each and have a 3000 initial lum per lamp. in any color spectrum. You can get the T8 in 2700K all the way up to 7000K

This clone was cut on 1-3-10
Picture one is the clone under 2lamp 4ft t8 strip 5000K
Picture two is the top of the plant there are over 30 tops so far, it is going outside soon
Picture three is the steam
Picture four is the root growth

Floro's work well.
