Thanks for the props! The ladies are smelling it up pretty good. I take them to the tub for watering because they take up so much room in the grow box I can't get to the soil. My wife almost started crying from the smell. I think I'm getting some serious allergies, too, but I'll have to tough it out for the cause :-(

I have to say that the carbon scrubber with filter (you should be able to see the pic on page 1) is worth its weight in gold  Cannot smell at all in the room where the grow box is setup.

Checked the soil pH on LMJ using the CIL test kit and tap water (pH 7). The pH looked very close to 6.0 based on the color, which is a bit low, but I'm not going to do anything differently because BMJ is healthy, and tap water is the highest pH water I have (don't want to use chemicals). Definitely looks like the peat moss is decomposing to acidic.

Fertilized today, again using the aggressive formula on the Pura Vida.

The ladies are getting pretty stinky when I take them out to water in the tub

Hey man, just read through your grow, the girls are looking really nice. BMJ is doing awesome, she's really getting big for her age. I really like your cab, thats exactly what I want to move to after my rubbermaid. My girl is at 15 days 12/12 right now is more in line with how LMJ has been going.

I noticed that the brown spots you noticed on LMJ are exatly what I have seen on my plant. Hace you figured out what is causing yours? Here are some pics comparing:

I never did figure out what's causing those problems. I'm treating both plants the same, and one is fine and the other is not. It looks like they're not even the same strain. From what I've read, it could be nute burn, but I'm adding nutes every 3rd watering as per the instructions. It could be nute lock, as it looks like my soil pH might be on the low side (~ 6), but I won't making any changes. The brown leafsets eventually die and fall off, but the rest of the leaves look healthy.

Best of luck, and I hope you figure out the problem.

Solution to fixing a Phosphorus deficiency
Some deficiency during flowering is normal, but too much shouldn't be tolerated. Any chemical or organic fertilizers that have Phosphorus in them will fix a Phosphorus deficiency. If you have a phosphorus deficiency you should use any N-P-K ratio that is over 5.Again Peters all purpose 20-20-20 is a good mix. Miracle grow Tomato plant food, Miracle grow All purpose plant food (Only mixing at ½ strength when using chemical nutrients, or it will cause nutrient burn!) Other forms of phosphorus supplements are: Bone meal, which is gradual absorption, I suggest making it into a tea for faster use, where bone/blood meal is slow acting, but when made into a tea it works quicker! Fruit eating bat guano, which is fast absorption, Worm castings, which is gradual absorption, Fish meal, which is medium absorption, Soft Rock Phosphate, which is medium absorption, Jamaican or Indonesian Guano, which is fast absorption. Crabshell, which is slow absorption. Tiger Bloom , which is fast absorption.

Here is a list of things to help fix a Phosphrus Deficiency.

Chemical

Advanced nutrients Bloom (0-5-4)
Vita Bloom (0-7-5)
BC Bloom (1.1-4.4-7)
GH Flora Bloom (0-5-4)
GH Maxi Bloom (5-15-14)
GH Floranova Bloom (4-8-7)
Dyna-Gro Bloom (3-12-6)
Fox Farm Tiger Bloom (2-8-4)
Awsome Blossums

Organic

Dr. Hornby's Iguana Juice Bloom (4-3-6)
Advanced Nutrients Mother Earth Bloom (.5-1.5-2)
Fox Farm Big Bloom (.01-.3-.7)
Earth Juice Bloom (0-3-1)
Pure Blend Bloom (2.5-2-5)
Pure Blend Pro Bloom (2.5-2-5)
Buddswell (0-7-0)
Sea Island Jamaican Bat Guano (1-10-0)
Indonesian Bat Guano (0-13-0)
Rainbow Mix Bloom (1-9-2)
Earth Juice Bloom (0-3-1)
BIO BLOOM (2-6-3.5)
AGE OLD BLOOM (5-10-5)
ALASKA MORBLOOM (0-10-10)
METANATURALS ORGANIC BLOOM (1-5-5)

Any of these will cure your phosphorus deficiency. Affected leaves will not show recovery but new growth will appear normal.

Now if you added to much chemical ferts and or organics,( which is hard to burn your plants when using organics) You need to Flush the soil with plain water. You need to use 2 times as much water as the size of the pot, for example: If you have a 5 gallon pot and need to flush it, you need to use 10 gallons of water to rinse out the soil good enough to get rid of excessive nutrients.

Note: Blood Meal, Dried Blood, Guanos, Kelp Meal, Cotton Seed Meal, Peat Moss,
Sulfur and fish meal are all acidic and can bring your ph down, so if you add these please monitor your ph when using those.

Note: Bone Meal, Rock Phosphate, Wood Ashes pretty much all ashes, Shellfish Compost and Crab Meal are all alkaline and can make your ph go up, so if you add any of these please monitor your ph.

How is that carbon scrubber working out for you? Any odor issues?
The scrubber is awesome:clap:. My wife says the exhaust is a 'sweet' (non-offensive) smell, but she can really notice the MJ smell when I take the ladies out for watering. She said she could smell them one floor down even though I had the bathroom door closed and the fan on for about a 10 minute watering!

I've got a couple of 90 degree turns in my exhaust ducting, which limits the throughput of my Vortex fan. Since my grow space is small though, I think this helps the smell because it gives the exhaust air more time to contact the carbon and remove the smell. I keep the fan speed low enough to control the temperature (and save electricity), which helps the smell.

Thanks for the info. I use a combo of organic Pura Vida (aggressive formula - as listed on the bottles). Grow- 6-4-3 (5mL), Bloom - 2-6-6 (8 mL). This should average to just over 5.

Fertilized LMJ slightly today, after flushing 3 days ago. Hopefully, the browning of the leaves is a P or K deficiency (pics 4 and 5).

BMJ bud hairs are browning nicely.
i just read your journal. nice job man. im just starting to grow for my first time. planted a few today. i dont have much space for them to grow tall so im looking to do LST lke you did. is it hard to do?

LST is pretty easy, and definitely manages limited height. Just search on google or on this sight and you'll find good info. I drilled some holes on the lips of the planter pots all the way around. When I got 4 leafsets, I looped some computer wire (thin gauge) around the third and forth node, bent the stem over, and tied to one of the holes in the planter. In a couple of days, the plant will start grow up towards the lights again. When you get another leaf set, just repeat.

I've got about 8 nice bud sites on one plant that have formed from the side branches due to LST. Also, the total vertical height is only about 3' (depends how long you veg).

I have 2 plants, and it's very tight in the LxW space because the plant is so bushy and bending the branches and tying to the edge makes the plant take up more width.

Good luck
