question about lights [to everyone]

IF YOU KNOW ABOUT LIGHTS PLZ ANSWER MY QUESTIONS THANKS.

i'm new here. and i'm new to growing. i'm not started yet because i'm getting my equipment all in order and then i will order it all in one shot and start. i will start hydroponics because i was recommended by 2 growers to start with that since i'm a newbie.

my questions are=

what are all the different types of lights involved in growing mj ? (make a list)

which lights consume the most electricity from top to bottom. (make a list)

which lights are capable to be used throughout the whole process from start to finish ?

i think the good answers to these questions will help me choose the lights that consumes less electricity (same small bill) or my mom will catch on 2 me. I have ordered 2 LED panels already which will be used/turned on during nighttime for 5hrs. Now i'm looking for offical lights that i can use from start -to- finish that keeps the light-bill small. i don't want HPS because i believe HPS runs the electricity bill up the roof to what i read. i would like recommendations from you the reader. if your wondering. i will like to start of with a 5gallon hydroponic system kit (i have links given to me already of what i need to order) it will be in a tent. and i will grow only one plant. my equipment is almost done. all i need is to find lights i can use from start to finish. and i'm asking you to help me with that. thank you in advance.

on the side note=

i heard these 65watts are as strong as 300watt. your opinion on the light below?

cfls are the best for what your looking for as they use the least electricity, and produce the least heat. cfls hps and mh bulbs can be used through the whole grow. if you go with cfls you can start with 1 bulb with 26+ wats and just keep upgrading as the plant matures.

for your first grow i would sugest using soil as it is simpler and more forgiving if you make mistakes

i dont sugest growing in your moms house where getting caught by her is a problem becaus sooner or later she will catch on

you dont want leds running during your dark time, at least durring flower, because it will only confuse the plants

damn these forums seem really active compared to others i posted this same post to. i was told that those lights i posted were good enough. now i wanted to know that can i stay with 1 bulb throughout the process? or do i have to start off at 25? how long do i run the LED panel for in the first few weeks along with CFL ? and it will be in a tent inside my room. my mom won't suspect the smell or lights or even check my tent out. i got privacy really well and its respected.

must be extremely nice to have privacy, I dont even remember what the heck that is.

I agree with the above said, you need to read up on your homework bro before jumping in with both feet, yuo will eventually drown. UNLESS you got the money to spend to use trial and error.

reading is always a plus.

i did A LOT of reading to the point where i feel i'm ready. plus i asked 3 growers a lot of questions. but they aren't online that much. so i thought i wud register to forums for additional. all i need is to confirm the right CFL's. and i should be ready. i have 14 seeds. of different kinds. i was told by 3 successful growers that messing up the first time is normal. so idk. but umm anyways did you see that 65watt bulb i posted up top? that is as good as a 300watt. do you think i can use that till finish. and also can the LED panels be any useful? and how many of those 65 bulbs should i get ?

Sorry if I misread, stoned :joint:.. For 14 seedlings i would go around, atleast, a dozen or more. More light the better, you can NEVER have too much light, just gotta know how to use it.

As far LEDs, leave em alone...not worth it imho. Use 'daylight' 6500k cfl's for the whole veg period. Then eventually switching over to 2500-2700k cfl's during flowering. You can still leave some of the daylight bulbs during flowering, again more light the better, but just make sure you have COMPLETE darkness during your 12/12 flowering time.

Hope this helps!

edIT: Look into these...I have a friend who is using these and are doing very well.

12 for 100 bucks. and 200 watts x 12 = 2400 watt if i hook them up all together at once. and i can get light sockets and use a power driller to drill holes in a plated wood i have. and add a reflector to each bulb. does that sound like a good idea?

Mylar is your friend when it comes to reflecting material. OR you can use good ol foil to line the inside.

You want to total your lumens from around 30,000-40/42,000 lumens. This is ideal for that many plants, you may need to add another one or two...just depends. You will have to have good ventilation and as well as an exhaust outlet to rid of extra heat. You want to stay around 68-80 degrees.

this will be for one plant ATM. 2 friends mentioned that if its growing positive healthy within 6 weeks then i can grow a 2nd plant. but anyways. yeah 1 plant i'm starting with and 2 plants max. no i was saying buying a light reflector like this one for example ( http://www.1000bulbs.com/Aluminum-Reflector-Options/ ) one of these and order about 6 of them. and put all 6 together on a wooded plate i have. etc. all facing down? you know what i'm saying. how many lumens does each one of those bulbs your friend got throws out ? and how much lumens do you need for a heathly mj grow?

gotcha. I currently have 2x23w cfls on my one week old youngin. I plan on adding a third bulb, 43 watt beginning of week 4 or 5.

He has 13 of them and putting right about 2200 +\- EACH. Give or take 32,000 lumens for 6 plants. For two plant I would say 4 of the 43 watters would be fine.

I would say 4 to 5 cfls will work on one plant, if you go the the home depot. Look at the cfls and find the red box that says replaces 150 watt. It should be on the top shelf in the bulbs. That is 42 or 47 can't remember acual watts. Those are the soft white(2700k) bulbs for flowering. It has a higher red spectrum which the plants will suck your dick for.

Then find a blue box kinda to the right if your looking at the shelf(if it's organized the same). It will be replacing 100watts bulbs and I think it is 38 watts. It is the 6500k bulb used for veg(there not old enough to suck dick yet they just need it to live) Then just get lamps or regular screw in base with a cord you can hang, and stratigicly place them. Sorry I can't spell litte stoned. And use the 6500k for veg and use all of them for flowering and should have some pretty bud with one plant.

this the link you showed me. are 42 watts. and how about for 1 plant. how many of those bulbs? if i buy 12 in that pack for 90 bucks. should i start with 1 bulb? then add an extra bulb each month? so by month 8. i wud have 8 bulbs of those lighting away at one plant ?

-edit----------

can i use only those type of bulbs through out the whole season? from start to finish?

if you are growing one plant use at least 2 per plant, 3-4, even 5 is ideal.

if growing two, same as above^, just multiply it by 2.

I wouldnt. Use those up to flowering and then go to a 2500-2700k(35ish watt) cfl. You could leave a couple of the veg cfl's in there for extra light.

I would do 4:2. Meaning 4 2700k to two 6500k. You should be good.
