This is now my fourth post on this forum and im starting to get pissed. Apparently i was wrong in choosing this forum to join? Nobody seems to know any answers or would just rather ignore me. Real friendly community this is... I have posted the same thing for the third freaking time and had mutliple views, yet i seem to be ignored when the newer posts have already been replied to several times. This is why i was sooo hesitant to join any sort of forum to begin with. I even said so in my intro post under the newbie section. Do you all think your too good to help a fellow toker out? or maybe too touchy of a subject? Im just trying to save some money in this weak economy by growing my own greens. Here is my last attempt to get my reasonable questions answered...
Hello everyone, this is only my FOURTH post on this forum so please forgive my improper vocabulary usage in regards to the plant part identification...
I noticed the distance from the small round leaves on two of my new seedlings, are different from the next new set of actual leaves growing off the main stem (the internode?). Could this be because of the distance i keep my seedlings from my light? or possibly just genetics? I am using a CFL system that i fabricated and the lights are currently about 3-5 inches from the plants. The whole system is setup in a reasonably reflective white paintjob inside of a closet. I am well aware of the heat issue but i can assure you that the plants will not burn unless you want to stand there for a long time and hold them by hand. Its extremely hot here all the time so the room temp is approx 79-84F for 24 hours with two Oscillating Circular Fans (6in & 12in). I placed a bowl of water underneath the 6in fan in order to cool the air it blows onto the plants and hopefully add a slight bit of humidity. I think i can honestly say there is not a whole lot of humidity in the room. But i do cover the new seedlings with a clear bag and one hole punch to keep the freshest sprouts in an adequate environment. Im home most of the time, so i leave the door open while i am here to circulate fresh air and expel the hot. The only time the door is closed, is when i leave or go to sleep.
My other inquiry is about the IR (InfraRed) signature of a CFL system. Would a grow setup with anywhere from 5-12 CFLs be as detectable as HPS or MH lights? The "ghetto bird" as we call it; flies all over the city and I wanna be sure that their FLIR camera wont pickup my IR signature using CFL setup. Would Panda pad lining work to reflect outside IR detection? or would it be too thick for such a hot place? I know there is always the mylar option... Thanks for any help.
