Necessary, no, but you would be better off using something even if it was some cheap fert from home depot or where ever.im planning on doing a small soil grow, do i really need to buy nutes or can i just get by with using ph balanced water?
In just a few words yes it is possible, but you must start with a rich well balanced organic soil that is already loaded with all the micro organisms and nutes the plant will need. This will be hard to do in a container, also your plants will be depleting the nutes in your soil as they grow. My suggestion with that being said is start with a good organic soil, read Making Tea is Ezy by Ohsogreen. Read the entire thread on organic teas, it is a very imformative read. I personally start with my soil that has been made by myself and then only use manure teas throughout the grow to replenish and feed the soil. The key to the organic grow is feeding the soil and not the plant directly. This will make a strong healthy plant resistent to most evils in a grow and give you a smooth tasting product at the end. I hope this helps answer your question. Good Luck and please start a grow journal when you start so we can all follow your progress.im planning on doing a small soil grow, do i really need to buy nutes or can i just get by with using ph balanced water?
