I already have a journal going myself. I have some seedlings going and will put them outside soon. I'll start a journal on them as well. I wanna see them go in the cold as well.

When mine was young It survived Multiple nights outside in a little planter. One night it was down to 18 degrees F. the other 2 night were 20 and 19. This was with daytime highs of high thirties, low forties/

Allow me to chime in. I speak from experience. Even a light frost for a couple of hours will cause most of the trichomes to explode. I know because one year the temps dipped to about 30F degrees in the early morning hours from about 4-7am. I went out with a radio shack handheld microscope and examined the trichs...and 75% of the round trich-heads had exploded leaving just the stalk and a withered head.

you can get an inside/outside thermometer that remembers the low and high of the day, so you know what is going on. it depends on the strain but why take a chance and get all stressed? bring it home... if you keep some light on it inside you can keep it growing and next spring takes some clones before it flowers. i did that last year and had six pink kush plants i am busy trimming now. locally grown strains do better but don't make your plant have to be a hero. they produce more and more potent bud when they are happy. i can't believe the deer haven't eaten. you are very lucky, don't push it... jp

the white widow takes a long time. i had to cut mine a month ago because it wasn't even starting to flower and shaded the others. i'll use it for firewood. good luck.

Put bamboo sticks around your plant for a foundation, and throw your frost protection over it, whether it be frost cloth/fabric, plastic, bed sheets or whatever you choose to use. Try and spread the bamboo out wide enough and tall enough that the material is not touching the plant. Make sure the bottoms are sealed to the ground letting no warmth to escape, no cold to enter.

If your in containers or pots, make sure they are insulated. Grab you some bubble wrap and line the containers, then add straw and tighten to a seal using burlap for even more protection. You can purchase camo burlap or a tan or green color if security is an issue.

Throw you a hand warmer or two at the base of the plant before sealing the bottom of your chosen frost cover material. This will get you through some of the coldest nights you could ever imagine and this is my plans this year....

I have several plants that have just started the flowering phase and probably won't be getting my late crop harvested till sometime in mid December.

It works, you don't have to second guess it, but please do be open to modifying it if you like.

It's a forum , And I give props to those who use the search button, That being said and being with in 70 miles of the op I'd say he harvested and everything was fine . We have only had one frost and it was 3 days ago.....

Yes they can. I've had plants survive down to 20 degrees. Some plants die others have the sugar leaves burnt off but bud still fine.
I still have plants outside now and it's been down in the teens.
Some have burned up from the frost though. If the trees can protect it some the better it is.

I've brought out plants that were frozen and the buds were just fine while trimming.

Depends on the plant is what Im saying.

I have a couple of three dozen plants going for a fall/winter grow. From sprouts to 3 weeks into flower. We are getting down to 29F tonight, so it will stress test them.

My forecast has 6 nights below freezing next week. Lots of young plants out for my winter/spring grow. Will have to see how many make it.

ive seen plants completely frozen basically, as i remeber the guy said he wouldjust mix up a little sea weed extract in some luke warm water and spray them down at first light and theyd spring back up

In the beginning when you start cultivation and the seeds don't sprout up they need warmer atmosphere and lower temperature and frost kill the seed, but as it grows just after 3-4 weed when they are in good position and healthy you can try to put them outside. its good that the your sativa also stands against the frost which in general died because of low temp and unavailability of light. I have consulted many Marijuana dispensaries and they suggested me not to put them in the frost and their life depends on the variety and resistance.
