Update: So I was in my patches the other day and was just checking the area for more males and there were a few I didn't catch before and I'm sure there is more; I'll keep watching for them. Since I have put the mulch down I have noticed my plants have been much happier. Here are some pics of my girls enjoying the sunlight.

This is my white widow (feminized g13 labs) This plant was doing very well when I started it indoors...it was very bushy. When I put it outside it took off like a bat outta hell and stretched a bit on me. Then the growth seemed to slow a bit, in which I later discovered it just wasn't getting enough direct sunlight. I did some trimming and It started growing better but the thing is I've been watching it closely for a week now and its not getting any taller really its just getting really really thick and dense at the top.....whats up with that? My best guess is that it does better indoors than outdoors, so its growing a bit different from the rest....its much shorter.

Hes been playin with strains for a few years. It all started in mid 80's when indica made a big push. now its just sticky crystaly indica budz. think theres afganny, skunk, northern lights everything has been mixed with it now i think lol. its all good it still makes nice smoke and good lookin stuff, and until it dont look or smoike good i wont change anything. ;)

I have a question... I've seen a lot of indoor setups where they make a grid basically so you can separate the tops so they all get better lighting...I was considering doing something like that for my outdoor plants, because they are getting pretty thick...any thoughts?

it jus makes it where the canopy is more level when thier trained so the entire plant gets light , bigger buds u said u laid the taller one over rite u mite be able to do something with that one but i dont kno what

maybe like a chicken wire screen or some thing but i dont think ud need it

Hey Volcom, nice thread. Keep up the good work. Although it seems cool to have hemp growing in the wild it sounds like it's a major pain-in-the-ass having to scan the countryside for males. Good luck with that. I'm curious to see how many seeds you end up with come harvest time.
As for a screen of green, I don't think you'll need to do that for an outdoor grow - the sun is pretty good at getting to the entire plant. I think you said you've already tied some them down which is great. Helps keep them out of view and allows the sun to shine on parts of the plant that might have otherwise been shaded by higher branches.

these two pics are of the wild weed which is way ahead of my stuff as far as flowering goes, man this stuff flowers fast....I've been fighting off the males for awhile but after yesterday I think we should be all good from here on out. That one is probably about 8ft tall or close to it....im standing next to it looking up taking the pic.

this is one of the two plants I put outside as "test plants" to help me determine when I could put all my other babies outside. I didnt care if it was a bit chilly out for these plants cuz they were only grown from bagseed anyway. One of them died for sure and I was pretty sure the other one died too, but I was walking by this area and noticed a plant sticking up soaking up the sun... It was the second one I put out...which I thought was dead......is apparently alive LOL! AND ITS A GIRL!! I will keep my eye on her from now on. lol

Yes you are right. I wouldnt prune my I learn a vauable lesson after 1 year I did that . For some unknown reason it just didnt grow the way I aspect it to turn out.But it turn out to be a lesson.Oh I remember it just grew big thick with no bug I was upset.Even if you top it it will get thick as wider and more bug.Not to say use a bamboo stick to hold the baby up. Its great to use. I didnt have worry about how heavy it got. As long as you use the right type of soil. And it is worth to spend that extra money to keep bugs away. I did. My only problem was I didnt have enough co2 I coundnt where I live. It was growing indoor. But outdoor just a matter of keep it water.Keep very close eye on leaf if they start to change color. You need act quickly not wait awhile that mean you will be about 1-2 week behind sechudle.
