Help with my babies.

What's up everyone, first post here! Been reading the forums for a couple weeks now trying to learn as much as possible, great site and ppl. So here's the deal. Got two bag seeds growing for about 7 days now. Each have one set of well developed true leaves with a new pair growing in as we speak. They are in miracle grow organic garden soil ATM, which seems to be doin ok. The girls (I hope) are under 1 68w 2700 CFL and 2 26w 5700 CFLs. I've been addin a few ounces of h2o every other say or so, filtered thru my brita (tap water).

So here's he question. On one of the girls the tips of the petioles are beginning to turn yellow as well as a couple very small splotches on one of the true leaves. Also, both plants have "dark edges" on the leaves. What could be causin this?

Also, thinking it might be the shit soil, I went to the store and picked up a bag of FF Ocean Forest soil. Is it too early to transplant? Should I mix the soils together to avoid nute burn? The plants r in 12 oz party cups ATM.

Any help would be much appreciated. If I forgot any helpful info let me know. Thanks.

Yes, Miracle Grow is not a balanced soil. Wait a bit before transplanting! Fox Farms Ocean Forest (2parts) mixed with Perlite (1part) is GOOD! I would also back of watering every other day! That is far too much and you are simply over watering! Only water when the soil is dry 2 inches from the surface. Never have a set schedual of watering! EVER! Water by feel and weight of the pot.


P.S!!! Your lights need to be between 6000 and 6500 Kelvin Temp. 2700's are WAY WAY WAY too low!

It's just that the top inch of the soil becomes like bone dry within 24 hours of me watering, maybe it's the soil?? Better to underwater I guess. Anywho, how long should I wait before transplanting? And isn't 2 5700 cfls enough to last me the first couple weeks?

Side note. I can see the roots on the bottom of the cup if that changes anything.

overwatering is easy to avoid, buy a moisture meter, u cant go wrong then, i dont see how people fuck it up tho as the bird with the gorgeous tits said, only water when the top 2inches is dry, the more ur plants grow the more ur water sched will change, keep it basic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the 5700's MAY work but even though your combining them both the color spectrum is what matters, NOT how many lights you have on them (at least right now, later youll need more lighting etc.)

If the top is getting bone try then you may lack moisture retaining material like vermiculite, peat moss, etc. And letting them go a little dry for a day or two will not hurt the plant it will actually make the plant stronger by making the roots work harder to attain moisture. Remember! Over watering causes root lock! And root lock prevents Nut's from traveling into the plant.

Ok so sounds like will start watering less but what about the transplanting?*Would it be ok to do now or should I just be patient n let them grow out a bit more first?

be PATIENT MY FRIEND, also less water is better than 2 much as the person below mentioned u can leave them get a little dry for a day, roots need to breathe , its healthy to leave them dry, but not so much that the soil pulls of the sides of ur buckets, u get me fella. peace

True. I guess I'm just gonna cut back the watering n see if they look better in a couple days. Is there any reason I shouldn't transplant to the new soil in a couple days?

i wouldnt transplant yet as ur plant is in shock already, it can take a plant up to 2weeks to recover from shock, depends on how severe the shock was in the first place, let her get bk to good health first n when u do tranz be very carefull with the roots!!!!!!!!!!
