Shiny Looking Stuff On Fan Leaves

Hey guys.

This is my first grow...going pretty good so far.

However, a couple weeks ago, I noticed this shiny looking crust growing on my fan leaves. I looks like if you would have taken hair spray to the leaves. I've attached a photo. The plants are at about week 5 on 12/12 and are otherwise a nice healthy green.

could be from watering when the nute water splashes on leaves then dries out thats what it looks like

Its on almost all the leaves though. Even the upper ones.

I have the same problem and my research is telling me it's from Thrips! Tiny bugs that eat the chlorophyll out of the leaves-- do you see any tiny black spots? That's their poop.....use a microscope and look for the larvae under the leaves-- the adults live in the soil so you have to kill them there AND on the plant itself....I just posted for advice in the plant problems thread, but I'm starting with ladybugs and nematodes. Its only on the top of the leaves

can u use the froggers in a house wit pets??? or should all pets and myself be out while they do what they do??

i'd remove all pets.

what i do is this, ................. the foggers have a little plastic tab under the "trigger" that locks it down when you push it. then you are supposed to set it on the floor, upright, and run. i take a pair if small scissors or clippers and i clip off the locking tab. then when my lights are off i sneak into my room and turn off the fans. i spray the fogger for about 10 seconds then stop spraying. fanning over the top off the canopy. DO NOT get it on the leaves directly. it will shrivel them up. i do a light fogging, wait 10 mins then turn my fans back on. wait 3 days and repeat. i do this 2 to three times and it seems to get everything.

they are pretty easy to manage as far as pests go. that should help, a lot. sometimes i only have to fog once to control them.

The slightest bit of fogger will kill fish (did ours, anyway) despite carefully and thoroughly (apparently not) covering it.
If you have fish, and like them, best really be careful w/pyrethrum.
Thanks for the "user" guide, FDD . . . makes sense and a great idea. I'll be doing this before winter, inside, as a precaution.

it is pretty "potent". i've accidentally hit leaves with it and it turns them wilted black.

They probably wilted because it sprays out a such a cold temp. Im sure it froze the leaf and killed the cells.

So there's no need to cover the lights, etc, and you don't need to vacuum up the area afterwards? Excellent. Would you do this during early flowering, if needed? What about later than that?
