Yeah, I'm learning propogation techniques here! She does have the magic touch so I got that going for me!

Since they are relatively small at that point for me (15" -20" or so). I was thinking about using the paper bag technique where you drop a little pollen in a small bag and rubber band it to a chosen bud, shake and let it sit for a bit and then remove the bag but this sound easy as paint by numbers.
Yeah, sounds like there's more room for error with the bag method than with using a paint/makeup brush. FDD has a thread explaining step-by-step the same method, with pics and all that jazz. (I read this process in a book before I found RIU.) Looks to me the be not only an extremely simple method, but with very low risk of pollenating unwanted buds. :D

this is the universe
Great comeback, Purp!

I've just been sitting back reading this fine thread.

Looks like we Purp and MC could start their own unique seed banks. They are herb scientists.

Kat - congrats on your man coming back from deployment. Glad he's safe. Both of you are in my prayers.

Well, when you know the basics you get all kinds of ideas on how to screw it up to see if you can fix it and/or make it better. Me, I got height limitation so my Jack and Purple wreck might be a challenge. Might get some more supercropping practice! Putting up some cup hooks all over the place for tie off points just in case. LOL! I feel the need, the need for seed!

When you know how to fix it,mistakes ain't no problem. Makes you fearless and that's the way to be after you learn. OH, and you better be able to laugh at yourself big time!

Plus alot of your "mistakes" are actually steps in the right direction, just going down the wrong path. Make sense???

Makes perfect sense!!! :hump:

My two "accidental toppings" after tightening ties without first releasing them and letting the stems toughen up again (LST) led me to intentionally top the other two. Although it won't take any longer for my plants to grow 10" around the edge of the pot than it will to grow 10" vertically, it'll still take longer than tying each of the bud sites I now have over to the edges of the pot and then letting it go from there. So now they each have eight to ten bud sites, about 3/4 of them will be long enough to tie down to the pots' edges in a week or so, and the rest to follow within a week of that. By then they'll have vegged quite long enough to go into flower shortly after that.

One thing I love about LST is that unless you do something to screw up big time, a mistake (or at the least doing something unplanned) most often leads to simply another path you might not have seen before. Especially since there is no one way to do LST. I'd thought that topping would slow down my LST endeavor (I've only done "straight" LST on young plants, never after pruning first). But now that the bud sites are growing like crazy after just the first tie down, I can see more than ever why many growers use topping (or fimming) and LST together. So it's probably a good thing that I "accidently" topped two of them.

MC, if I didn't laugh at myself often, I'd have been committed years ago. LOL!

Hey, Purp,

I donated $100 to RIU in June, and expected ELITE membership for 20 months.........my ELITE lasted ONE month and disappeared. Do you pay monthly?.
