Its kinda loud, whats a good way to silence it?

Wrapping it with insulated ducting?

I gotta go next door tomorrow and see how loud it is through the walls.

spray the insides with WD40 and try to secure it to something solid that will reduce vibration.

dont WD40 an extraction fan and for quietest results mount it free hanging from rubber supports (vehicle exhaust fixings/mountings).
fixing it to something soild will cause a bad vibration.

Another way to reduce the amount of noise coming out of the vent itself is to put foam or something similar in the duct at any bends on the outside of the curve so that it absorbs the sound travelling through the ducting instead of having the sound bounce off the vent corner and keep travelling, just don't block the vent like with a filter. Even a few scothcbrite sponges would probably work, hope this helps. I'll put a pic of what i mean after work if you don't understand what i'm trying to say, i get that a bit :)

Ok its not too loud but loud enough my aunt will bitch. She tries to make everyones life miserable because thats what she is. I REALLY need to silence this thing.

Im getting a WOOOOO WOOOOO WOOOO sound, i think its just the air comin out. I may try a fan controller and lower it to about 80%. Also my damn aluminum duct is uncurling and falling apart im pissed. I guess ill just duct tape the end hopefully that will hold it.

I may invest in some of that acoustic ducting and just sell this shit to my gram. She needs 6 inch duct for her dryer lolz.

Will they ship to the us, and will it be extremely expensive?

I was also thinking of dynamatting the fan itself. Dunno if that would work or not. Im not gonna fork out 200+ to dynamat the whole cabinet.

Anyone have an american site that carrys it. I need 6 inch. not 5.90 unless that will work. I may just grab a small piece of dynamat and see what happens.

If its possible you can build a small plywood box around your inline fan and hang it from the ceiling using rubber loops or hose. Kills the noise. Also you can consider4 a muffler to reduce noise even further but they cost. The box around the fan is cheap and works good. Insulated ducting is a good idea too. Post some pics if ya got em.

Ill go take em now. I found this stuff called

BARRIER - DECOUPLER

http://www.acousticalsurfaces.com/noise_barrier/bardec.htm?d=14

The guy said its like 2 bucks per square foot. I figure if I wrap my fan with it, it should help.

I only need it to drop by like 5db or so.

Brb taking pics.

Hey would DynaMat work?? you know the stuff they use for sound deadening in cars with sound systems... you could just wrap the fans can itself i think its a pretty good idea

kind of old, just wanted to chime in that dynamat extreme does work..you will need bout 3.5 ft2 to fully cover 1 6in vortex fan..you will also want to use some type of rubber between the fan stand and the mounting surface. oh! def use a roller made specialy for applying dynamat to prevent from cutting the crap out of your fingers
