Hey guys quick question about top water, my tap water ph reads between 7.6-7.8, is that good for my plants ?

Give them a water till water runs out and get a PH of that water. Adjust the water ( if run off is low, give it a higher ph water etc etc) until the run off is around 6.8
Then you can water with 6.8 water and just check runoff every so often.

my runoff is always 6.0, i cant seem to get it higher at all, i def need help in dat area,my plants are startin to turn yellow at da tips from da bottem up.
Get some PH up from a pet store or gardening center.

To say tap water is better than bottled water is very over generalized. Some areas have contaminants in the tap water, and some areas tap water is from a pristene mountain lake. Also some bottled water is not filtered as well as others. The point of using bottled or filtered water is that you take the guessing game out of a huge variable. I agree that many bottled waters are not much better than tap water, but some are very clean, like Aquafina or Dasani. Look for something purified by reverse osmosis (RO).
Find out the TDS ppm of your tap, as well as if they use chloramine vs chlorine in the water. Chloramine doesnt dissapate as easily, and is more hazardous to delicate living things.
Also by law you can ask the water company for a consumer confidence report that will show the analysis as well as any known contaminents for your region.
Nonetheless, whats a bottle of Aquafina cost...$2? Your babies are worth it.
But there's 150 things you can do to increase quality and yield, quality water is one of them, especially is you are going hydro.

aight good lookin,because everytime i check my runoff after watering wit distilled water it reads 6.0,do u thnk that could b causin the yellow leaf tips ?

Don't use distilled water, just tap water left out for 24 hours is usually fine as its just the clorine you what to evaporate, but distilling water removes other trace elements that the plants like.
Water them with higher ph water say 7.0, and give the soil a really good soaking, check the ph of the runoff. Get it upto at least 6.4-6.8. If it not then give em higher ph water until the run off is in that range.
Then wait 24 hours and rewater with 6.8 water and retest runoff. Once you get the soil ph up then just water every few days ( when ever they are really dry ) with 6.8 water.
Else there is addatives you can get to change the ph of soil, but this should work and its cheap

Tap water is no where near has good for you has natural spring water you pleb.Natural bottled spring water is full of minerals.Tap water has all kinds of additives to make it clean,Don't know where you are getting your bottled water from but if you think it is better than spring watern your are wrong.This has not a bearing on the plants but it had to be said.Tap water is fine for the plants you must live in what is called a hard water area.I would lower it to round about 5.5/6.0 but after adding nutrients.

im not sayin bottled water is better hell i only watered with bottled when i started but in my eyes tap do just the same. although i do live in a good area so the tap water is always good

tap water is OK if it's not crazy polluted like 500 ppm. Mine is around 150 and is fine. For the OP with the ph problem you should flush the pot with plain water and a whole lot of it. The low runoff ph is probably from salt buildup.

Like I said, tap water varies greatly from regions. Like upsate NY, San Francisco, CA and Banff, Canada and Tahoe, CA are getting some of the best tap water around. Some areas have known toxic contaminents, and some areas simply have high amounts of naturally occuring minerals that may cause problems, and some areas chlorinate more heavily than others. For example, a well water user may have hydrogen sulfide and manganese excess, which are not good. If you use tap water, be prepared to react to its qualities. Thats why using RO and distilled are so popular, as it eliminates one more guessing game we have in helping these plants along. If an RO is too expensive, get a brita filter or go to a pure water store. They usually sell RO water for 35 cents per gallon. So go once a month and fill up some 5 gallon bottles, thats another option.
