AND another question i pondered one night... why when you burn a piece of wood the 'charcole' effect ends up beeing squares.. i get the lines formed from the grain (going with the wood) but what about those that go horizontal to the grain.. HOW

i just thought of both of the questions at the same time, not that they are related.. just i was drunk one night by a fire.
